Reincarnation on stage - a real good title for a live-album of a band returning to stage nearly 15 years after their last live appearance in 1998.
With the lineup of the tour 2012/2013 everything was possible regarding the Eloy-sound-performance on stage. Appearing with two keyboard players, two guitarist and 3 female choir members on stage, the tour was brilliant as well as this double album. The two CDs do reflect the whole show, put together from recordings of different locations in order to put the best performances together. This does not affect the atmosphere of the whole recording, because the transitions from one song to another were well mixed.
The mix of the album really emphasises the typical Eloy-sound - and one can recognize more details than during the live experience at the venue.
Highlights are: 'Mysterious monolith' - the keyboard-challenge with Hannes 'the octopus' Folberth and Michael Gerlach. 'The apocalypse' with the fantastic Alexandra Seubert performing the female vocals - this live version is really a good interpretation of the song - regarding the vocals even better than the original. 'Silhoutte' and the classic 'Atlantis Agony' with genius Steve Mann on guitar - the slide guitar solo on 'Atlantis Agony' is outstanding! 'Mystery', a song from the underrated album 'Visionary', which is live a real killer and which shows the joy the band had during the live-performance. "Horizons" demonstrates the quality of the choir with Anke Renner, Tina Lux and Alexandra Seubert.
And, of course, the Eloy-hymn 'Poseidon's creation' is not missing.
The whole band is kept together by the Eloy-originals Frank Bornemann and Klaus-Peter 'Matze' Matziol - with the genius Bodo Schopf at the drums, who combines the styles of Rosenthal and Randow.
Conclusion: Eloy-Fans should not miss this album - it is a valuable package and a reminder of a band, which accompanied most of the fans their whole life. This is the ultimate collection!By Nibor Tesselwood, amazon
