TERAMAZE are a modern progressive metal band that call Melbourne, Australia their hometown. Teramaze are pretty popular in their native land and neighboring countries will soon be hooked on their speedy thrash with a modern, technical prog metal sound on its third release, AnhedoniA. They have a metallic edge with some groove elements as well. Similarities to Tool, Dream Theater, Pantera and Nevermore come to mind.
Anhedonia is a well-rounded and engaging album. There’s progressive technicality but also accessible melodies and harmonies to grab hold of. The musicianship is top-notch and the vocals of Brett Rerekura are impressive. He has a James Hetfield-like range, yet more powerful and melodic.
