It's bloody. And with these plants she begins already in Marz. They are virtual their roots do not drag through the earth they also do not need a sun. They are nightworms. They only need themselves to thrive. Virtual Plants is the name of the band project of Manuela Doetsch and Michael Baumann. With the album Sleeping On Trains, the virtual plants now show themselves for the first time in daylight in their full splendor. Ten songs that in their tidiness and sound-tonics partly reminds of bands such as The XX or Maggie Rogers and also other association triggers. In doing so, however, the virtual plants always remain self-growing, not wanting anything. And you can hear that immediately. Sleeping On Trains has nothing shrieking nothing loud in itself does not want to push itself. There is no need for special effects. The delicate, natural beauty of the album remains so unmatched and clear. Locking melodies of different synths accentuated by an electric guitar embedded in effects unobtrusive beats that work exactly as well as push without the command to give Michael Baumann ostensibly as a perfectionist. His sounds are meticulously selected and used well. Less is more here. Everything radiates a living homogeneity is permeated with great clarity and depth. The voice and poetry of Manuela Doetsch, in all this, and in all. Reminiscent of Roisin Murphy, taking a perfect harmony, she leads through the album. Also, their melodies take captive a complete the work to a whole. To Sleeping On Trains you could also dance but you do not. And it does not need a club. Too close is this music accompanies people everywhere is not bound to a particular architectural situation or time. This album is the beginning of something bigger. The Virtual Plants have too much potential to go back without sound, have too much talent to remain unhealthy. They are not fast-growing plants. They allow themselves time. It took two years from the seed to the first bud. But that was also the reason. Michael Baumann and Manuela Doetsch met for the first time 10 years ago. Their paths crossed each other in Wurzburg at various parties. Music and making music quickly became the subject then you lost your eyes again. 2 years ago, one met coincidentally again remembered the common interests and decided to try it together once. The result is Sleeping On Trains. It was begun in Wurzburg, where the two lived at that time half a year later Manu left the city on the Main to travel. It was one and a half years in Asia and New Zealand from it. Files were sent back and forth and as if by a miracle the great spatial distance could not prevent the two of their first work in this way completed. And it was right. That too can be heard now. The Virtual Plants begin to bloom. While Michael Baumann still lives in Wurzburg and has worked as a communication designer there, Manuela Doetsch is now living in Berlin. This is not so great a distance. And is not virtually anything possible …
