Circle of the Sun is a mix of traditional airs and original compositions; fans of Irish music will find many of the traditional songs familiar, and the original pieces are composed in a similar vein. Minogue's lovely harp and lovelier voice are supported by a host of backup musicians; fiddle, guitar, flute, whistle, and various percussion instruments feature prominently, especially on the faster tracks. Much of the music is relaxing, even conducive to meditation; however, Minogue's skill as a performer and as a composer prevent Circle of the Sun from ever being boring.– Genevieve Williams
