Once upon a time in Los Angeles – during the infamous mid-'80s Guns N' Roses era – the City of Angels was spewing forth dirty, blues-influenced rock bands. Little Caesar, Junkyard, the Hangmen – even the names were redolent of dirty Rock & Roll, Harleys, and barroom brawls. A new breed of rebel rock has emerged in Buckcherry - sober, tattooed blues-metallers whose charismatic singer, Josh Todd, boasts a compelling Iggy Pop/Jim Morrison/Mick Jagger persona!
The Los Angeles-based hard rock act Buckcherry formed in mid-1995, after singer Joshua Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson were introduced through their tattoo artist. After cutting several demos, the duo recruited bassist Jonathan "J.B." Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn and began performing live, quickly earning a local following for their swaggering, grunge-flavored music. Following the subsequent addition of second guitarist Yogi, Buckcherry signed with DreamWorks Records and issued their self-titled debut LP in 1999. Singles such as "Check Your Head" and "For the Movies" were modern rock hits, allowing Buckcherry to raise their profile by summer 2000.
The following year, Buckcherry released their second album, Time Bomb. Although it wasn't widely noticed by critics, AC/DC recruited the band as an opening act for a series of shows, and Buckcherry's audience grew accordingly. In July 2002, founding member Joshua Todd unexpectedly quit the group, and Buckcherry took a multi-year hiatus to recoup. They eventually regrouped in 2005 with original members Todd and Nelson, as well as newcomers Xavier Muriel (drums), bassist Jimmy Ashhurst, and guitarist Stevie D.
The revised lineup hit the studio later that year to record "15", which was released in early 2006 and yielded the band's first Top Ten pop single, "Sorry". "Fifteen" went platinum on the strength of its crossover appeal, and Buckcherry quickly returned in 2008 with a fourth album, Black Butterfly. The concert album Live & Loud 2009 was released the following year, as the band prepared to hit the road as KISS' opening act. Their next studio album "All Night Long" was be released in the beginning of August 2010. The first single from the new album, also entitled "All Night Long", will make its video premiere on May 17th, the same day the top down summer anthem will be delivered to radio at the active rock, mainstream rock and alternative formats. Правда изначально, новоиспечённая формация носила название Sparrow, но с постепенно набирающей обороты известностью пришли и первые проблемы в виде судебного иска от записывающей фирмы «Sparrow Records» (Sparrow Records is a popular Christian music record label), с требованием не порочить честь столь достопочтимой конторы и сменить название на что-нибудь другое. Этим другим, в итоге, и стало «Buckcherry» - анаграмма, составленная из имени отца-основателя рок-н-ролла - Чарльза Эдварда Андерсона Берри, в простонародьи известного как просто Чак Берри. И принимая во внимание то, что репертуар исполняемых группой песен был явно написан под влиянием таких монстров как AC/DC, Kiss и Aerosmith, а на концертах зрителей привлекал имидж группы, в особенности её татуированного фронтмена, напоминавшего одновременно Мика Джаггера, Игги Попа и Джима Моррисона в одном лице, группа довольно быстро сколотила себе изрядную армию фэнов на западном побережье США. В том же 1999-м Buckcherry удостоились чести разогревать самих Kiss на их европейских гастролях. Кроме этого группа провела свой первый, и очень успешный самостоятельный тур по Америке, Австралии и Японии.

Весной 2001 года Buckcherry выпустили в свет свой второй лонгплей «Time Вomb», от которого все ждали, что музыкантам удастся превзойти успех превосходного дебютника, но в целом, альбом получил невысокую оценку критики (в основном - критики были недовольны отсутствием видимого прогресса, - что нисколько не умаляет достоинств самой пластинки!), и продавался похуже предшественника, что однако не помешало альбому войти в чарты, а первый сингл - «Ridin'» даже попал в первую десятку американского хит-парада. Приём публики был напротив более чем восторженным, что и доказал последующий мировой тур. C неменьшей востребованностью, песни с альбома крутились и по музыкальным радиостанциям… Тем временем, в группе уже начались проблемы с ритм-секцией, и остальные участники начали постепенно растрачиваться на побочные проекты. (Так вокалист Джошуа Тодд внезапно решил начать свою кинокарьеру, снявшись вместе с Вэлом Килмером и Мит Лоафом, в фильме «Море Солтона», где исполнил небольшую роль Большого Билла). И хотя творческое ядро коллектива - Тодд и Нельсон, планировали приступать к записи третьего альбома, личные амбиции, на этот раз, оказали группе дурную услугу и в начале 2002 года группа фактически прекратила своё существование. Но, как показало время - ненадолго…
За три года прошедших с распада коллектива, участники некогда самой многообещающей хард-роковой команды не сидели сложа руки и пытались, вместе и поодиночке, раскручивать свои новые проекты… Но осознав, что в этом мире, стоит рассчитывать только лишь на собственные силы, люди, стоявшие у истоков Buckcherry - Дшош Тодд и Кит Нельсон - приняли решение реформировать собственную группу. Оставшись вдвоём от оригинального состава, творческому тандему пришлось подыскивать себе новых партнёров, с вливанием свежей крови которых, в начале 2005 года, обновлённый коллектив приступил к записи своего третьего по счёту альбома «15».
В силу сложившихся обстоятельств, а также из-за конфликта с прежним звукозаписывающим лейблом и неприятных судебных исков в адрес Buckcherry, записанный ими альбом, первое время, был доступен лишь жителям страны Восходящего Солнца; остальным частям света пришлось ждать весны 2006 года, когда альбом, наконец то, был реализован силами самих музыкантов. Но вынужденное ожидание - того стоило. Вышедший с задержкой, диск произвёл фурор по обе стороны Атлантики и, спустя несколько месяцев, продажи пластинки перевалили миллионный рубеж, а Buckcherry получили в копилку вторую "платину". Более того, неспадающий интерес к группе постоянно подогревался выходом скандальных и хорошо раскупаемых синглов с нового альбома, что только усиливало ажиотаж вокруг команды. В итоге альбом был номинирован на Грэмми и надолго окопался в чартах Billboard-а, где к концу июня 2008 (!) года даже вошёл в сводный ТОР 40, а продажи диска (только в США) приблизились к полутора миллионам экземпляров. Стоит ли говорить, что на сегодняшний день - «15» - стал самым успешным альбомом коллектива…
Несомненно возросший интерес заокеанской широкой публики к некогда поверженным живописным кумирам классического глэм-рока 80-х дал интересный побочный эффект - группы, пятилетку назад начинавшие свой путь с обещаний обкормить всех неким модным неоглэмом "для нового поколения" тихо и пока осторожно съезжают на рельсы того самого осмеянного поджанра. Вот и апостолы неоглэма Buckcherry туда же - их третий (и первый в независимом статусе) диск демонстрирует нам сочетание вполне американистых, апеллирующих к любому возрасту мелодий в духе зрелых The Black Crowes ("Nexl 2 You" и малость прихиппованные "Carousel" и "Brooklyn") в сочетании с бравурными риффами, выдающими любовь музыкантов к AC/DC. В сочинении ряда номеров принял участие знатный хитмейкер Марти Фредериксен, и результат вполне достоин вывески "Рок-н-ролл для взрослых". Впрочем, в номерах "So Far" и "Sunshine" вокалист Джош Тодд и его коллеги демонстрируют такую прыть, что становится ясно - парням очень хочется примерить на свои ппечи малость поизносившийся кафтан The Rolling Stones.
Вышедший без особой помпы, четвёртый студийный альбом одной из самых значимых американских неохард-роковых команд спродюсирован лично её гитаристом Китом Нельсоном вместе с известным хитмейкером Марти Фредериксоном, известным по своей работе с Aerosmith и Motley Crue. Взявший хороший старт в чартах, альбом демонстрирует нам, что Buckcherry не растеряли своей самобытности и неотразимости с момента выхода их предыдущего, и очень успешного, альбома «15». Тексты песен по прежнему полны все той же очаровательной брутальности "плохих парней", а что касается музыки, то на новом альбоме музыканты слегка сбавили обороты, впрочем - продемонстрировав все свои лучшие качества - взяв от своих первых релизов забористые риффы и аскетичный саунд и пропустив его сквозь найденный на прошлой пластинке рецепт неряшливо прихиппованного рок-н-ролла в сочетании с отличной поп-мелодикой. Не обошлось и без проникновенной полубаллады - "Don't Go Away", которая опять удалась на славу. Стоит также отметить "All Of Me" - великолепный приблюзованный ретро-номер, на котором музыкантам удалось перейти на новый для себя уровень, вплотную приблизившись к самым корням американской музыки. В завершении этого - специального фэн-клубовского издания, слушателя ожидает парочка относительно сырых демо-треков, которые окончательно дорисовывают картину, которую представляет из себя сегодня музыка Buckcherry.
Также, осенью 2009 года, был реализован первый концерный альбом "Live And Loud".
… а в августе 2010 года был выпущен "All Night Long", пятый студийный альбом коллектива. А затем и "Confessions"…

Buckcherry's 12-track debut album, produced by Terry Date (Pantera) with coproduction from former Sex Pistols Steve Jones, kicks off with the nasty, aggressive groove of "Lit Up". Still, Todd's persona works well with the band's aggro, melodic stomp, and with bands such as the Black Crowes, Nashville Pussy, and Honky Toast keeping barroom rock alive, Buckcherry are a ballsy and bold entry into the fray, as suited to share a stage with Hanoi Rocks as they would be with Motorhead.
As you listen to Buckcherry's debut record, a significant sense of deja vu takes hold. The foundation combines early Guns N' Roses riffs with AC/DC's blues feel and the Black Crowes' attitude. But Buckcherry has its own spirit, using these influences to create a new and unique sound. Co-produced by Terry Date (Deftones, White Zombie) and Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, the album contains raunchy rockers turned up to 11 and slower, melodic numbers. "Lit Up", the band's hook-laden ode to the coke hobby, is an anthem for Los Angeles nightlife. "For The Movies" has an Oasis feel and is primed for rock radio. Vocalist Joshua Todd swaggers through "Lawless And Lulu", while Keith Nelson's punk metal riffs drive "Related". This is Buckcherry's Second Studio Album
Buckcherry's sophomore album is everything its eponymous debut was and more. It's an uncompromising melange of metal riffs via Aerosmith and AC/DC, punk tempos, the occasional blues-rock influence such as the Black Crowes-like "Porno Star" and the plaintive, almost Rolling Stones-ish "Underneath", and the classic snot-nosed rock & roll attitude of early Guns N' Roses. It's bracing stuff–guitarists Keith Nelson and the charmingly monikered Yogi sound like they learned how to play by eating pieces of Angus Young–and it's often very funny in a deliberately over the top way. (Inspirational verse from the title song: "Life ain't nothing but bitches and money"). Time Bomb is a non-stop blast, and if the band's name isn't an anagram for a certain legendary '50s rocker, it should be.
If you liked this bunch's self-titled debut, you will certainly dig the dozen raunchy tunes that populate Time Bomb. Wiry, wild Joshua Todd–a classic blues-belting, tattoo-bearing frontman–possesses a gift for irony that, while not easily gleaned, does exist. Behind him, guitars grind away, while big production by John Travis (Monster Magnet, Sugar Ray) helps create a believable street-grit feel that recalls early Guns N' Roses. The Sex Pistols-like "Place in the Sun" is a winner, as is the full-tilt "Frontside" and the suitably nasty "Porno Star". There are even a couple decent ballads! At its hard core, Time Bomb is that rare breed–an in-your-face, aggressive rock album that shows off a wonderful (and too rare) punk rock sensibility.Tracklist:

Josh Todd, a lead singer of the hard rock band Buckcherry, reads alternate-historical fiction in his spare time. He's especially fond of tales of parallel Americas, ones where the warring tribes of metal and rap never made peace. In those Americas, Todd would be a rock star. Unfortunately, like Howard the Duck, he's trapped in world he never made; his resolute brand of glam-laced metal risks falling on teen ears unaccustomed to the feral joys of Guns N' Roses and Slayer, among the many black-clad outfits from whom he and his backing band borrow liberally. If this solo debut has no single song with the immediate power of Buckcherry's "Lit Up" or "Ridin'," it has several that come close, especially "Blast," which is as concussive as pop gets, the perfect vehicle for his artfully scratchy tenor. The album's first single, "Shine," is unworthy of Todd, a Creed-like anthem from a man who previously channeled porn stars and maniacs with hypnotic glee. Otherwise, though, You Made Me is tight and driven. Reportedly, Todd got his youthful new band by answering an ad for a singer. This is Buckcherry's Third Studio Album
More than four years after their second album, Time Bomb, the Los Angeles hard-rock group Buckcherry returned with this 11-track outing. Despite only frontman Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson remaining from the band's original lineup, Buckcherry sounds much as it did on its 1999 debut, channeling the Cult and AC/DC through a seedy L.A. filter, albeit with a hint of punk, as revealed on 15's propulsive opener, "So Far".
Buckcherry reestablish their status as one of the most raucous and delightfully dirty-minded acts in the industry today with Fifteen, a truly bombastic rock & roll blast. Vocalist Josh Todd leads this high-energy act into battle with the colossal one-two-three punch of "So Far", "Next 2 You", and "Out Of Line", each anchored by the weighty rhythm section of drummer Xavier Muriel and bassist Jimmy Ashhurst, then elevated by the Olympian guitar attack of Keith Nelson and Stevie D. But while an appropriate levity prevails on those tracks and others – such as "Crazy Bitch", "Broken Glass", and the good time stomp "Brooklyn" – the band also find time to show a more sensitive and mature side with the hit-worthy and country-inflected "Carousel", plus the unapologetically melancholy "Sorry". If there's a fault to be found on "15" it doesn't reveal itself easily, and if there's a fault to be found with Buckcherry it is perhaps that they imbue listeners with a zest for living. The Fifth Studio album
All Night Long – the fifth album from Buckcherry – is the vital sound of Rock & Roll endurance at its very best. It's not just rock, it's Rock and Roll. More than a decade after first establishing its good name with the popular eponymous 1999 debut effort, Buckcherry has created the band's most eclectic and impressive effort yet. All Night Long is a thoroughly rocking song cycle in the grand tradition of classic albums by the group's forefathers and now friends Aerosmith, AC/DC and Kiss.
On August 3, Buckcherry released All Night Long, the follow-up to 2008′s masterpiece Black Butterfly. Just like their first four records, All Night Long takes us back to an era when you could listen to a rock and roll album from start to finish and not find a bad track in the bunch. The CD contains 11 tracks, and absolutely not a moment of filler. If you like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses (before Axl went Nine Inch Nails on us), or Motley Crue, there’s no reason for you to not pick up this album.
The CD starts out with the title cut, “All Night Long”, which would’ve fit in any hair metal bar on the Sunset Strip in 1988, but still sounds perfectly relevant today. Buckcherry’s album sales and concert attendance proves that in a world of emo, pop, teenage megastars, and even heavier darker metal, the world still wants its good old-fashioned party rock…Loud guitars, good vocals, a good beat, and lyrics about women and partying are still what we all crave.
Mixed in with the AC/DC-style rockers such as “All Night Long”, “Oh My Lord”, “Recovery”, and “Dead” are slower, more intricate songs such as “These Things”, “Bliss”, and the classic-style power ballad “I Want You”. And though most of the songs are, frankly, about wild times, women and relationships, and hard partying, the fairly serious “Our World” fits like a glove amongst the other songs. With a classic hard rock musical style, the lyrics portray something that the band has mostly avoided… It discusses in plain English, all of the tragedy and senseless violence going on in this world, and reminds us that it’s all of our responsibility to do what we can as individuals, and as a society, to fix it. Josh Todd’s lyrics remind us that for now, this is the only world we have, and we’d better clean up our act if we want it to be around for our kids.
Overall, this is probably the most solid hard rock record I’ve heard this year. Expect it to stay in the Hot 100 charts on Billboard, and to be labeled as one of the top rock releases of 2010.~ Review from MojoRadio.us

ALL NIGHT LONG: “All Night Long” is about what happens when Buckcherry comes to your town. We get on stage and we host a party. That is what the song is about…it’s about the energy we like to have between the fans and us. We’ve been on the road with a lot of our heroes like Aerosmith, AC/DC and Kiss. And one thing we understand from being out on the road with these legends is they have giant rock and roll anthems, arena-rock sized songs that are just energetic and fun. We’ve written a few like “Lit Up” and “Crazy Bitch,” but we wanted more. We wanted a song that just captured what it feels like to go to a Buckcherry concert. (JOSH TODD) We wanted to grow as artists, but we’re still rock and roll. I wrote that riff on an acoustic in my kitchen, but from the start I heard a distorted electric guitar and an arena full of people. (KEITH NELSON)
IT’S A PARTY: “It’s A Party” is another big anthem, and that’s what we hope a Buckcherry concert is – a party, and a damn good one too. It’s absolutely still a party for me to be there, each and every show. (JOSH TODD)
THESE THINGS: Josh’s strength as a lyricist is he has a very unique style based on the way he sees the world. He’s been through a lot of stuff in life that other people don’t bounce back from, and that’s fueled him not only to become a better man, but also a better musician and a lyricist. (KEITH NELSON) It’s a song about how the little things in a relationship become big things. Then all of a sudden you have a massive problem on your hands. The problem can be romance, finance – just about anything that can come between two people. (JOSH TODD)
OH MY LORD: I was born and raised in sunny California, and when the sun comes out and beautiful women start wearing less clothes. And with all the hottest girls migrating here, you look around some days and you find yourself saying, “Oh my lord.” So no, this is not my gospel song. (JOSH TODD) Josh did a masterful job of saying those nasty things that he often says in a very clever and veiled way that’s made it so you could certainly play that song on the radio. He called me one day, and said that he wanted to write a song that had some of the same feel and the same sense of space as great old songs like “All Right Now” or “Highway To Hell.” It’s hard to leave the space anymore, and that’s part of the problem with lots of modern music. The guys in this band can play their asses off, but part of the secret is not always playing. I think it’s my favorite song on the album. (KEITH NELSON)
RECOVERY: I’ve been off drugs for 15 years now, and I’m always in a state of recovery. I live there. “Recovery” is just about the people who really want to suck up your energy and destroy you when you’re in a good way. It’s a song about breaking away from the pack. (JOSH TODD) Stevie had that funky little verse lick, and I had the chorus part that rocked. We kind of smashed those together, and came up with that trippy midsection and a couple of guitar solos. The lyrics speak for themselves. (KEITH NELSON)
I WANT YOU: It’s fantastic and rare to find someone in your life who you can really count on, especially if you’re someone who comes with a lot of battle wounds. In a way, it’s all about finding someone you can trust, and want and love. (JOSH TODD)
LIBERTY: Liberty is freedom…freedom and orgasm is what it’s about. For me, I like a good release. At the end of the day, you want to just get it out. (JOSH TODD) That started as a slide guitar riff song. Musically, that’s a side of Buckcherry that could have been on our first record – along with “All Night Long.” Sometimes as a band, it’s important for us to remember where we come from. (KEITH NELSON)
OUR WORLD: It’s just about what’s going on in our world. We’re not a political band, but I wanted to write a song about what’s going on. (JOSH TODD) I was hearing this drum pattern with a guitar riff that went with it, and Jimmy and I got together and did that chorus. Then Josh put some really great lyrics together that were a little more socially conscious that we usually get. He took that ball and ran with it. (KEITH NELSON)
BLISS: “Bliss” started out as an acoustic song. At one point we toyed with doing an acoustic record, and even though it blossomed into an electric record, it was hard to let go of the idea of that song. There will be a limited special edition of the album with some of those acoustic things. (KEITH NELSON) “Bliss” is about love and that moment when you first meet someone and feel that chemistry and connection. (JOSH TODD)
NEVER SAY NEVER: It’s about two characters like Sid and Nancy coming up in life and living with reckless abandon. (JOSH TODD)
DEAD: One of those songs that marries the greasy rock and punk elements together. This will be a scorcher to play live. (KEITH NELSON) I had real issues with authority figures growing up. I wanted to write about the authority figures in my life who told me I’d never amount to anything. It’s a big “fuck you” to all those people. (JOSH TODD)

The Six & last to date Studio album
Deluxe CD/DVD edition includes two additional audio tracks plus a bonus DVD. 2013 release, the sixth studio album from the L.A.-based rockers. Confessions is a loose concept album that revolves around the notion of the seven deadly sins and is inspired by events in singer Josh Todd's childhood. Todd said that Confessions is "definitely a heavier, musically, record than we've ever had, and more melodic. It's pretty intense, but everybody's gonna love it. It's quintessential Buckcherry at the end of the day".
Confessions is an odd title for a Buckcherry album, as the Los Angeles Rock & Roll band has never held back any secrets. They've always been unapologetic for what they are: an old-fashioned hard rock group, living hard for good times in an era when good times are hard to find. Now on their sixth album, the bandmembers aren't necessarily getting long in the tooth but they do lack the young, hungry energy that made their Guns N' Roses rips work. Now, they feel more at home whenever they cop the candied psychedelia of Stone Temple Pilots, emphasizing melody over riffs, and they do that a fair amount on Confessions, enough to keep the record relatively varied, certainly more than most Buckcherry records, which isn't to say that it covers a great deal of ground but it does indeed have light shade and a nice melodic bent that counters the slightly desperate Rock & Roll found elsewhere on the album.Tracklist - CD:~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, all media guide

Never let it be said that Buckcherry don't value the power of a gimmick. Embracing their role as the sleaziest survivors in hard rock, they unleashed their silliest and dirtiest record to date in 2014's Fuck EP – a six-song blast of nastiness where every song contains the F-word in its title. Buckcherry manage to conjugate the F-word in a variety of ways – it's a noun, a verb, an adjective – and they also find many different sounds, too, ranging from the greasy boogie of "Somebody Fucked with Me" to the disco of "Say Fuck It" and "I Don't Give a Fuck", not to mention the neo-punk blitzkrieg of "Fist Fuck".
