Often I utter these words, for they give me courage to endure the emotions I have found myself engulfed in. Ownership of these feelings have birthed truths that may not have lived beyond the fantasy of my denial.

I have filled the void in myself with drugs and alcohol, of course, to no avail. The void could only be filled with more of my own presence, and the more I listened to my inner mind, solitude would become my savior. I would yearn for the moments when I could listen inward and be grateful for love of self.

I’d say, “I am lonely, being alone isn't how life should be, I want to feel loved…”

Those words gave me clarity. Now I speak my feelings into the world and record them, listen back to what I said, my inflections, timing, compassion or lack there of.

I now see myself as the love I seek.

Meditation has become a staple in my spiritual development and when I asked myself in silence, ‘What makes you a man?’, it was the beginning of my own acceptance.

I’ve learned to be proud of my intent and accepting of the emotion I hold; to truly be honest and free to express my emotions, embracing loneliness, lust, navigating the world without instillments from a father, literal pleading for love and realizing that if I want to experience what it is to truly live, I must approach everything whole heartedly.

Change is inevitable and eventually becomes normal, fluent and more of an appreciation.

I long to harness my peace through the process.

Through love for myself and of life I’ve learned that every emotion is truly a privilege and worthy of acknowledgement.

Accepting that there is always a greater message that is much more important then ones singular perception of what love means.
