Hadouk Trio - Utopies [2006]
Label: Naive | genre: ethno-jazz | mp3, 224 ~ 256 Kb/s VBR | Year 2006 | 90 MB

Hadouk is a word composed by Hajouj, African bass and Doudouk, Armenian oboe. Hadouk Trio is a band of strange origin. It has been founded by three adventurers and musicians poets, they show a nomadic, soft, spiritual charming and amusing music.
Didier Malherbe (ex - Gong) plays everything: the instruments of wind, clarinet, saxophone, flutes, ocarinas and hajouj.
Steve Shehan is the drummer, he/she plays as much with toothpicks as with his bare hands, it also puts a lot of exotic percussion. Loy Ehrlich plays cords, keyboards and also hajouj, kora, sanza. Definitively, a lot of talent in the one group.
The band has been going on for ten years without losing its faith in any kinds of melodic experimentation that seem interesting. They add more ethnic instruments to their sound (khen, organ Lao, gumbass) mixing the exactly quantity of electro to their ethno - jazz. I don't know neither Khen neither the gumbass, but the result is surely very attractive.
According to the critics, this album shows a side of the band most serene and relaxed that their previous recordings.
It was also the perfect opportunity to invite a pioneer in experimentation, John Hassel (trumpet player), its intervention in the last three tracks that close the album adds an extra condiment to their music yet excitingly eclectic of this Hadouk Trio.
