Julie Rogers - Sing Another Song & The Wedding

Julie Rogers had a massive worldwide hit in the 60's with her classic recording of "The Wedding" which sold in excess of 12 Million copies. She went on to have more hits before embarking on a worldwide tour that she has been on ever since! She has played all the great venues and she is a star around the world from Australia to the USA.

Julie was born on April 6 1943 in Bermondsey, London where she attended the Oliver Goldsmith Primary School. She moved to Kingsbury in west London where she received most of her education.

She met with Johnny Franz at Philips Records. He signed her up almost immediately and in April 1964 she entered a five year contract. Her first release – ‘It's Magic’ - didn't do much chartwise, but it did get her recognized on radio and television. The record that followed – ‘The Wedding' - guaranteed her an audience for life. It sold massively, quickly passing a million copies. Although it did not quite reach the top in the UK, peaking at Number Three, it was the year's fourth best selling single in the UK. It also proved popular around the world gaining high chart positions in many countries including Number 10 in the USA. The huge success of the song led immediately to appearances on every major TV show.

She also recorded the original theme song written for the James Bond film, You Only Live Twice (1967), before John Barry and Leslie Bricusse wrote a completely different song for Nancy Sinatra.

It's not just in Britain that Julie Rogers has been a regular performer. She's appeared at top nightspots around the world and also sung on the world's great liners - the QE2, the Canberra and the Sea Goddess.

She is married to her manager, Michael Black, the brother of lyricist Don Black.

Julie was made a Freeman of the City of London for all her charity work with the Variety Club of Great Britain, the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings, the Stars Organisation for Spastics and many others.

Did she have another chart hit following The Wedding? Well none as big as that first smash. She had two other singles that made the UK Top Forty. The follow up to The Wedding was Like A Child, which charted in December 1964. The following March she charted again with the Hawaiian Wedding Song.

She still performs to this day.
