Ambient, Electronic Dennis Knopper (The Netherlands) born in Canada, raised in Holland, grew up listening to Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Klaus Schulze, and any other original progressive music he could find. He played in pop/rock bands through the 80/90, but it never gave him the satisfaction he was looking for. After a period of producing local bands he decided to leave sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll behind and concentrate fully on composing and producing elektronica. In 2001, inspired by Namlook's FAX label, he decided to start a label as a platform for talented, original and innovative artists. Now, a few years later, with help from some great people (you know who you are), Databloem and it's sub-label dataObscura have released some quite remarkable ambient goodies.
Spielerei is a metaphor for freedom and creativity, which he believes electronic music stands for. His debut album on dataObscura "Once Upon a Time" probably tells more than words can say…
