Beau Williams - No More Tears (1986) [2007, Remastered with Bonus Track]

Beau Williams (born January 6, 1950) is an American gospel singer from Texas. Williams' albums with Capitol Records include a self-titled album in 1982, Stay With Me (1983), Bodacious! (1984) and No More Tears (1986). After his third Capitol release, Williams signed with Light Records and returned to his roots in Gospel music. Williams' album "No More Tears" is a real cultural act. Behind the record was the production company Hush Productions, which had hit the Gold Room commercially for Freddie Jackson and was able to produce a long line of high-quality male vocalists (Beau Williams, Willie Collins, Lillo Thomas, John White, Scott White ), whose albums, however, typically sold poorly - which doesn't mean they were weak. On the contrary, these discs often found more soulfulness and edging than Freddie Jackson's albums, which largely replicated the same safe (albeit still high-end) hit mold from one disc to another. The Capitol had long been trying to get Gospel singer Beau Williams, a phenomenal singer, to the top. This No More Tears is actually the fourth Beaun Capitol reel, but it was the last and then Beau returned to the more traditional gospel to record, among other things. Sam Cookecover to win. Williams has a very personal, expressive tenor tone that moves on a multi-octave scale and melodies slide from one key to another in a great style in the same byte. Beau was lucky enough to get one of McFadden & Whitehead 's Give Me Up , one of Seoul's most soulful hits, on the record. The song is easily recognized by the writing style of John Whitehead and Gene McFadden , at least if they have heard Whitehead's 1988 solo album, a masterpiece called I Need Money Bad . Give Me upstarts with a monologue, and the verse parts seep into the soul with the theme "you don't miss your water until you run well". Despite all the timeliness of the background, this is like deep soul. Every vocalist's sentence underlines what soul music is all about and what sets soul music apart from other popular music: you hear it in the singer, and the same download is not heard in any other form of popular music. Ballads are, of course, Beau's own kind of bread, and he often begins calmly, even with a full-bodied feel, but accelerates towards the end and shows the signs of heaven at the end of fierce melodies in which one syllable slides through long scales. Echoesin Chris Wellsdescribed Beau's incredible singing with these words: "The ballads Been too Long and There's Just Something about You are exemplary of such a singer as described above . The latter, in particular, is quite a show for Williams and has led critics to seek comparisons with Jackie Wilson . The tune is Beaun's own, and the other tune Don't Be Gone to Stay begins as Earth, Wind & Fire 's After the Love Is Gone , but accelerates again towards the end, blasting both throat and very wide, multi octave sounds." The closing track is also a ballad calledI Found a Love , a Gospel-influenced by Vaneese Thomas (daughter of Rufus Thomas) , who later became a favorite of critics, but among others. a modernized arrangement of arrangements, and Vaneese is also one of the record producers and backing singers. Vaneese's own solo album came a year later, and it came back with a year of albums, which in turn included this Beaun album in 1986. The opening track, All Because of You , and I'll Be Trueseem to follow the sound of the Kashifi production team, which has a bass synth pattern at the bottom, but sings a midtempo-soul tune with devotion. The backing chorus sings in unisono-style chorus. These songs aren't any better or worse than typical Kashif productions in the mid-80s, but they were just too mediocre for Beau Williams' talent to play. Listening to the record, there's a bit of a feeling that Beau Williams was born in the wrong decade, because the trends of the era did not favor this heir of Jackie Wilson's school, and apparently Beau himself didn't want to leave, for example, Glenn Jones followed suit from Gospel arenas to synthetic funk lines to seek success on the list, but preferred to return to the more traditional Gospel lines. For Soul Diggars, this is a real pity, as this album also shows that Beau Williams would have had much to give as a soul vocalist.
