Frehley's Comet was an American rock band formed and led by ex-KISS lead guitarist Ace Frehley. The group released two studio albums and one live EP before Frehley left the band to release his 1989 solo album, Trouble Walkin'. Second Sighting is a studio album by American hard rock band Frehley's Comet. This is the second out of three LPs put out by Frehley in the 1980s, but the last under the band name Frehley's Comet. Second Sighting was recorded with new drummer Jamie Oldaker, who had previously worked with Bob Seger and Eric Clapton. He replaced Anton Fig, who would return for 1989's Trouble Walkin'. This makes Second Sighting the only Frehley solo album or project (excluding compilations) to not feature Fig. "Dancin' With Danger" is a cover version of a song recorded by the Canadian band Streetheart which featured future Loverboy members Paul Dean and Matt Frenette. Although the songwriting credits list Frehley and Dana Strum, the music and lyrics are very similar to the original version. Sequencer programming was done by Angel keyboardist and writer Gordon G.G. Gebert.
On his second full-length solo release since leaving Kiss, Ace Frehley pursues an even more commercial direction than 1987's already pop-friendly FREHLEY'S COMET. A few of the tracks were keepers, but he relies on outside songwriters and fellow Frehley's Comet member Tod Howarth for the majority of the tunes. Instead of getting back to the tough hard rock of his 1978 solo album, an obvious attempt is made at replicating the then-thriving pop metal bands. "Insane" (also released as a video), and "Separate" are closer to the Ace of old, however, and the mostly-instrumental "The Acorn Is Spinning" shows that the band can jam out when given the chance. but such blah keyboard-based titles as "It's Over Now" and "Fallen Angel" hew more tightly to the commercial sound of the day. SECOND SIGHTING would prove to be Howarth's last album with the band and new drummer Jamie Oldaker's one and only appearance on a Frehley record.~ Wiki / All Music
