A French rock band Gepetto was founded by George Pinilla (the founder of George's Shop DVD and Video Store) as almost a one-man project with some musical friends / collaborators. His debut creation "From Heaven To The Stars …", obviously inspired by lots of progressive rock (especially Neo-Prog) vanguards, has been released in May 2016 via a French distributor Musea Records.
Gepetto est une formation française actuelle de rock Progressif, emmenée par le fameux vépéciste George Pinilla. "From Heaven To The Stars…" (2016) nous invite à un fabuleux voyage musical. L'on y retrouve les bases d'un rock Progressif symphonique (Alan Parsons Project, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd…), mâtiné de neo Progressif (Mostly Autumn, Pendragon, Quidam…), de heavy-metal, de rock Progressif à la française (Certaines mélodies de chant réminiscentes de Taï Phong), ou carrément d'ambiances latines (Triana, Bloque, Premiata Forneria Marconi…). Le tout avec une identité qui lui est propre. Ce voyage traverse les âges sans prendre une ride, et Gepetto parcourt notre horizon sensoriel tel un funambule à travers les langues (Français, anglais et espagnol.), les climats vintages (Rythmique à la Pierre Moerlen, Mellotron, Moogs, guitare douze-cordes…) et plus actuels (Soli de guitare entre Bryan Josh et Maciek Meller, nappes de claviers…). Bref, une heure de musique combinant la fraîcheur avec la nostalgie dans un contexte fort en émotions et sensibilité. A découvrir!
