Valectra - Surfing On This Wave (2015)

We all noticed in La Voix II this singer-pianist who sang “Très sympathique”, one of Pink Martini's signature songs, an artist with an unusual name: VALECTRA! All four coaches turned around after only a few seconds and gave it their all to convince her to join their team.

Valérie Cormier (born in Havre-St-Pierre, QC), better known now by her stage name Valectra, discovered her passion for piano at the age of 5. This passion will only continue to grow until she obtains a Bachelor of Music (classical and jazz).

For many years, Valérie has accompanied numerous artists as their pianist, keyboardist and accordionist (Éric Lapointe, Lhasa de Sela, Normand Brathwaite, Richard Petit, Dawn Tyler Watson, Alain François Lamontagne, The Box…) touring across Canada, the United States, Europe, and she also played in Morocco and Singapore.

It is in 2009 that Valérie moves to the forefront and officially adopts the stage name Valectra. She wants to compose and sing her own songs. She offers us her very own Lounge/Chill Out/Deep Tempo music style.

As an independent artist, she creates her own record company "Spin Gloss Records". From this moment on, she composes and produces her music in her own recording studio. Moreover, we will find Valectra's music in the film Omerta, in the television series Lance et compte and various web series.

In 2011, Valectra launched her first album “Following The Sound”, which was warmly received by critics, then followed the single “2 jours avec moi” in 2014 (written by Francis Collard and Nelson Minville). Today, she offers us her new album “Surfing on this Wave”.
