Other than six numbers in 1946, four in 1954, and a very obscure 1978 LP, this set was clarinetist Abe Most's first real opportunity to stretch out on records as a leader. Most, who is joined by pianist Hank Jones, bassist Monty Budwig, and drummer Jake Hanna, performs a few standards, his "Babenu" (dedicated to tenorman Babe Russin and based on the chords of "I've Found a New Baby"), and his original title cut. In addition, on a medley of "Manha de Carnaval" and "Samba de Orpheus," Most switches to flute and interacts with his brother, flutist Sam Most. An excellent swing set. –Scott Yanow
