    Uno de los pianistas y directores de bandas latinas de más renombre y popularidad en Nueva York, en las décadas de los años 40 y 50, era Noro Morales (1911-1964). Nació en Puerto Rico, en 1911, criado en una familia musical, que fue invitada a figurar como la orquesta oficial del presidente de Venezuela en 1924. Despues de la muerte de su padre, Noro asumió el papel de director. Cuando la orquesta se desintegró, él se trasladó a Puerto Rico. En 1935 se mudó a Nueva York donde triunfó en el legendario club “El Morocco”. Muchos
    de los grandes de la música popular latina de la época pasaron por su banda: Tito Puente, Machito, Tito Rodríguez y otros. Su influencia fué enorme. Fue una figura de gran éxito, por veinticinco años, en Nueva York. En el año 1960, con problemas de salud y nostalgia por su tierra, regresó a Puerto Rico donde continuó su carrera, grabó varios álbumes y murió en enero de 1964.
