Hollan Holmes is a American muscian creating ambient music in the vein of Steve Roach and Tangerine Dream. Hollan's soundscapes are often very melodic and harmonious, frequently using sequences and long build ups to create some very enthralling celestial and dreamy ambiance.
The Farthest Fringes (2011). "The Farthest Fringes", the follow-up to Hollan's critically acclaimed debut CD, "A Distant Light", explores a bit more of a melodic, traditionally structured song-like approach on several tracks, while much of the CD showcases Hollan's expanding sound design skills on some deeply rich, ambient space worlds. A year in the making, these eight tracks are wonderfully elevated to a higher listening quality through the expert mastering wizardry of sound engineer and ambient artist, Chad Kettering, with whom Hollan worked closely in Chad's studio at Soniclayers Mastering. "The Farthest Fringes" represents encouraging growth in Hollan's musical composing abilities and is sure to please electronic space music fans everywhere.
Phase Shift (2013). In Euless, Texas, located deep space traveler Hollan Holmes returns with his 3rd album, as usual released on his own during March 2013. "Phase Shift" is a superb epic odyssey and another fantastic release by Hollan Holmes, both, visually and sonically. Without doubt, Hollan Holmes enters now the pantheon with the giants of deep space voyaging. "Phase Shift", which was mastered by his fellow Texas sonic sculptor Chad Kettering in his Soniclayers Mastering studio, is dedicated to Neil Armstrong.
Incandescent (2015). "Incandescent" was composed and recorded between October 2014 and January 2015. It is comprised of nine songs, running a total of about 67 minutes. The first three songs are sequence-oriented, Berlin School-esque songs, with the remaining six songs of a much slower nature, much like many of my past sound world drone oriented compositions.
