Jean-Michel Jarre will release a remastered version of his historic live album "The Concerts In China" in November 2022. Originally released in 1982, the album served as a document of a historic concert tour Jarre undertook in 1981 - consisting of five spectacular concerts at the Shanghai and Beijing People's Stadium. It was the first time a Western musical artist had performed in the post-Cultural Revolution country.

Jarre said, "To this day, the concerts in China are probably the most surreal and poetic experience I've ever had. It was an honor to be the first Western musician to play live in the country at that time, and it was like visiting another planet for me; and it seemed to be the same curious awe for the Chinese audience as well. Passionate about Chinese culture, I have traveled to China time and time again to perform concerts, including in the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. I'm delighted that 'The Concerts in China' album has been remastered, because it's something I'm incredibly proud of, and it's a testament to my ongoing connection with China."

The remaster comes shortly after Jarre's last studio album, "Oxymore," was released Oct. 21 to critical acclaim. The 40th Anniversary Remastered Edition of 'The Concerts In China' will be available as a 180g 2LP version with gatefold sleeve, including a collector's poster with unreleased images, and as a 2CD version including a collector's booklet, as well as digitally. The track list reflects the original version of the album, including the beautiful studio recording "Souvenir Of China" that closes the album.

A new composition on the album is "Fishing Junks at Sunset," a new arrangement of a traditional Chinese song known as "Fisherman's Chant At Dusk," performed and recorded with the Beijing Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.

This concert tour was the first time Jarre performed his music on stage with other musicians and the first time he used a laser harp.
