V.A. - ACT: Magic Moments [3CD Box Set] (2006)

Magic Moments 1 (2000). With the 1996 release of "A Little Magic In A Noisy World", the first of its anthology series, ACT began to document its repertory concept of a permanent exchange between jazz and other forms of music. The release of "Magic Moments" in January 2000 is the forth installment of this "music without borders". This time the CD combines over 40 ACTs on 18 titles.
Some of the musicians on this anthology speak the American - born language of jazz with the accent of their own mother tongue. Others add new words to the language, or expand the grammatical rules. Yet others speak in their native language, but owing to their long time away from their homeland, scatter scraps of American "slang" over their musical landscape; the flow of their speech has even taken on an American tone and color. Jazz tolerates this; it has always tolerated it. From its inception on, an openness to the world was one of jazz’s distinctive characteristics.

Magic Moments 2 (2004). "Encounters of a special type" is what ACT boss Siegfried Loch wants to present on "Magic Moments 2" - in line with the unique label philosophy - to create new artistic encounters, to give new impulses to the music and, last but not least, to release music which doesn’t necessarily repeat what went before.
Five of the sixteen tracks on "Magic Moments 2" are previously unreleased, the others being from the best of the most recent recordings - and all demonstrate a musical spectrum which appeal beyond the pure jazz afficionado. This ranges from the sensational Grammy winner of 2003, Norah Jones, through to the flamenco guitarist Gerardo Núñez and the lounge-pop-jazz project Marsmobil of Munich-based pianist Roberto Di Gioia.

Magic Moments 3 (2006). The highly valued and practically cult ACT Samplers offer an excellent cross section of ACTs best current productions. Magic Moments 3 contains recordings of Nils Landgren & Joe Sample, Rigmor Gustafsson & Jacky Terrasson, Heinz Sauer & Michael Wollny, Peter Apfelbaum, Lars Danielsson, ElbtonalPercussion, e.s.t., JazzIndeed, Viktoria Tolstoy, Ulf Wakenius, Muriel Zoe and others.
