This music group is found in Lugano, Switzerland. Stojadinović brothers, Goran and Dušan, started this project at 2009 and shorty afterwards Ivan Antunović joined them as guitar player. Apart of this group, Goran played with Luana Zanetti, known as Baby Lou. They mostly performed jazz standards, South American, Balkan, and evergreen music. Later on, Balkan Lovers and Baby Lou started working together performing extraordinary World famous music colored by ethno sounds and rhythms from Balkan.
They participated at numerous music events and festivals all around the Europe. Thus, the distinguishable places and events they have performed together are the theater “Paravento” during the film festival in Locarno, “Poestate” festival in Lugano, and “Resava Fest” in Serbia. Also, they played at the 100th birthday celebration of the famous actor “Mariuccia Medici” at “Palazzo dei Congressi” in Lugano.
During the 2011 they published the first live album recorded at the concert in Locarno. That was the trigger to come up with the idea to extend their repertoire. Instead of performing only cover music, they decided to record their original music. This authentic album of Balkan Lovers has been mostly recorded during the 2014th and finally wrapped it up at the beginning of 2015th.
Along the way, a few important members of the group joined the standard crew. Namely, the group was enriched for the presence of Aleksandar Stojić, Saša Ranković, Mario Cubilas, and Jovan Jovanović. Each of these group members is individually an outstanding musician, some of them graduated from well-known music academies. A breeze to work with, they brought completely new grove into the character of this Balkan oriented music. They have sweetened popular odd eastern rhythms used in their music making a fusion with jazz, funky, reggae, SKA and Latin sound. Lyrics of their songs are written on various languages such as English, Spanish, Serbian and Italian, which makes their music fully international.
Finally, it is necessary to mention that the following musicians significantly contributed to the last records of Balkan Lovers having Ivan Aleksijević as pianist, Fidel Arenas Brito as signer, Nevena Račić and Bojana Račić as back vocals.
