About this 2014 Remastered Re-Issue…
'Oxygene’ was Jarre’s spectacular major label debut and it is rightly considered an Electronic Music classic! First released in 1976, it was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque, and electronic music ultimately left the confines of elitism. Both the album and a single from it entered the international charts.

What made this album so appealing to the masses was it’s unique balance of melody, flowing, exciting rhythms and deliciously atmospheric sounds, all coupled with just the right touch of commerciality coming from the addictive nature of the huge selling single that was lifted from it. The instant popularity of that single was due to the heavy radio exposure it received, and that in turn brought extra interest in the album, which itself was already receiving radio play from veteran UK disc jockey Alan Freeman, so such an album really couldn’t fail, and it went on to become a massive selling release that still sounds fantastic almost 40 years down the line!

Jarre recorded this album using the following instruments: ARP 2600, VCS3, RMI Harmonic Synthesizer, Farfisa Organ, Eminent 310, Mellotron, Rythmin’ Computer, & Korg Mini-Pop keyboards.

The 2014 edition of ‘Oxygene’ has been Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Dave Dadwater for Yakuda Audio 2014. The newly Remastered sound is excellent and packs a lot of punch over the entire frequency range. The CD has an 8-Page Booklet featuring sleeve notes by Phil Alexander, Editor-In-Chief of Mojo Magazine and the disc itself has a high quality, full-colour on-body Picture Label featuring the front cover artwork image, so all-in-all, this is a great value-for-money product.
