Conlon Nancarrow: Studies for Player Piano, Vol. V (WER 60165-50)
Classical | APE & CUE | 1988 | 3 parts / 239 MB
If John Cage's
Sonatas and Interludes are for prepared piano, which is best known as an ordinary piano that produces different sounds due to various objects placed between the strings, Conlon Nancarrow's Studies are written for player piano. The essence of the operation of a player piano is that, as the perforated paper roll passes over a vacuum, each perforation activates a mechanism that depresses a hammer which in turn strikes a string and thus produces a note.
