While other artists have achieved a greater degree of notoriety or sales figures, few can boast as much impact on contemporary music as Emmylou Harris. Born in 1942 in Alabama and endowed with a crystalline timbre, an innate writing talent and a great creativity, Harris crosses the epoch by following her own path, proudly carrying the torch of" cosmic American music " inherited from her mentor Gram Parsons. Only Neil Young (not surprisingly one of his frequent collaborators) has been able to generate a work as rich, eclectic and adventurous as it is immediately identifiable, the same approach that makes his work as exciting in the 2010s as at the dawn of a career marked by the essential trilogy Elite Hotel, Pieces of the Sky and Luxury Liner, published between 1975 and 1977.
