Dan Swanö, the frontman of Edge Of Sanity and Nightingale, is a renowned singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer (known for his work with Opeth, Katatonia, Dissection, Bloodbath, and more). In 1999, he released his first (and only) solo album, Moontower. This cult classic is now available again in a remastered edition, offered in multiple formats: a 2CD O-Card version featuring a 32-page booklet (including liner notes and rare photos), which contains the original 8 tracks (remastered) plus 16 bonus tracks on the second CD.
After spending a decade redefining the boundaries of death metal as the increasingly dominant force behind Sweden's Edge of Sanity, it was only natural for singer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Swanö to formally step out on his own, first with a 1998 EP, and shortly thereafter with his first solo album, 1999's Moontower…

With Generation Of The Void, Nailed To Obscurity have created their most mature and expansive album to date. The album reflects the turmoil of the post-pandemic era, the shadow of war in Europe and the relentless changes affecting all of humanity. Beyond its political and social commentary, the album also delves deep into personal struggles, exploring themes of dark emotion, depression and fear. Every note, every lyric carries the weight of uncertainty and disillusionment, while no one knows what to find in the void or beyond. After the success of 2019's 'Black Frost', the German doom/death metal veterans return with their new album 'Generation of the Void'. First single 'Overcast' drips with the brutal, melancholic, apocalyptic intensity the band have perfected over their 20 years together.

Formed in 1996 in the coastal town of Karhula, Omnium Gatherum has long stood at the crossroads of traditional heavy metal, Gothenburg-style melodic death, and progressive finesse - earning the tongue-in-cheek label Adult-Oriented Death Metal.
On "May the Bridges We Burn Light the Way", founding guitarist and chief songwriter Markus Vanhala (also in Insomnium, Cemetery Skyline) sought to capture the band’s full scope: catchy hooks, searing solos, thunderous rhythms, inventive keys, and vocals that shift between aggression and melody with ease…

Aversed formed in Boston with guitarist Sungwoo Jeong and bassist Martin Epstein remaining the sole members from the early days. By 2016, with the additions of drummer Jeff Saltzman (now also of Allegaeon) and guitarist Alden Marchand, the band released their impactful EP, ‘Renewal,’ demonstrating their ambition and future promise. Their blend of extreme instrumentation and tender melodicism was highlighted with 2021’s full-length CD, ‘Impermanent,’ displaying further growth, musicianship and potential. Now joined by Sarah Hartman on vocals Aversed are armed with a new album full of rage and yearning. ‘Erasure of Color’ presents a glimpse of hope and beauty on a backdrop of raging, mournful Gothic Extreme Metal.

Forged in the fires of French-Spanish heritage, Impureza has spent two decades pioneering Hispanic Metal - a fierce fusion of extreme metal and the passionate rhythms of flamenco. Wielding their Iberian identity like a blade, they have conquered stages worldwide, leaving an indestructible mark on the international metal scene. With ‘Alcázares’, Impureza plunges into the heart of medieval Spain, resurrecting the legends of the Reconquista with unrelenting ferocity. From the war cries of “Bajo las Tizonas de Toledo” to the spectral doom of “El Ejército de los Fallecidos de Alarcos”, this album is a relentless expedition through history, mysticism, and blood-soaked battles. The scorching fusion of flamenco guitars, orchestral grandeur, and brutal death metal reaches its peak here, crafted with masterful precision by Sébastien Camhi and Jacob Hansen.

Swedish melodic death metal masters In Mourning are celebrating the release of their new, critically-acclaimed studio offering, entitled The Immortal, that is out now via Supreme Chaos Records and Dalapop.
Since the early 2000s, In Mourning have steadily built a devoted international fanbase. With six acclaimed studio albums and several EPs under their belt, the Dalecarlian quartet returns with its seventh full-length release - arriving two years after their previous album, The Bleeding Veil.
Staying true to their signature blend of melancholic melodies and crushing heaviness, The Immortal sees the band further refine and expand their sonic identity. Fronted by the dynamic vocal duo of Björn Pettersson and Tobias Netzell - whose deep growls and soaring clean vocals offer striking contrast - the album explores themes of personal struggle and philosophical reflection…

Not since the release of Tiamat's groundbreaking masterpiece Wildhoney in 1994 had the extreme metal scene witnessed such an overwhelming show of fan enthusiasm and uniform critical praise as that bestowed upon Blackwater Park, the astounding fifth effort from Swedish metal titans Opeth. A work of breathtaking creative breadth, Blackwater Park (named after an obscure German progressive rock outfit from the 1970s) keeps with Opeth's tradition by transcending the limits of death/black metal and repeatedly shattering the foundations of conventional songwriting, to boot. Rarely does a band manage to break new ground without losing touch with its roots, but Opeth has made a career of it - perhaps never as effortlessly as on this occasion…

The Bay Area-based quintet's confidence in the lineup that made their previous album, Empyrean (2022), such a resounding success-earning high marks from Metal Injection, New Noise, and Guitar World-has been reconfigured slightly, with guitarist Sam Mooradian (Inhale Existence, Sam Mooradian) and drummer Kevin Alexander (Disembodied Tyrant, Brought by Pain) bringing their jaw-dropping musical proficiency to the fold, as vocalist Kyle Schaefer, guitarist Scott Carstairs, and bassist Evan Brewer enter a new chapter with Fallujah.

Sixteen years and five albums after the Pennsylvania band’s formation, progressive death metal progenitors Rivers of Nihil are upping the ante with their 2025 self-titled album Rivers of Nihil. Traditionally, a self-titled record can signal a return to basics and/or a fresh beginning, and in 10 powerful songs, it’s clear that both those factors are in play. Founding bassist Adam Biggs became the band’s new lead vocalist/bassist in 2023; the same year marked the appearance of additional guitarist Andy Thomas (ex-Black Crown Initiate), whose vocals also play prominently on Rivers of Nihil. Producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio captured the new dynamics across more than 50 minutes of music…

The four-piece from Oakland, California built up considerable momentum on the back of their sophomore album, Velvet Incandescence, which arrived in April 2023. Returning with Bioluminescence, the new year heralds a new chapter for the band. Creatively spearheaded by guitarist Tony Thomas (also of Botanist) and vocalist Chelsea Murphy, Dawn Of Ouroboros conjures up an atmospheric blend of black and death metal. Whilst Chelsea’s distinctive vocals both scathe and soothe, there is a vicious underpinning of progressive and propulsive extremity that unites their sound into something cohesive and alluring. An abyssal, claustrophobic thread runs through to the sound of the album itself - expanding and contracting as the songs undulate and pulsate. Dawn of Ouroboros are illuminating the path forward as they approach the release of Bioluminescence. Once again they find themselves with much to celebrate as an even brighter future beckons.

While In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall may not be Opeth’s only live album, it’s certainly their classiest. Recorded at the famous London venue, the live album features the Swedish progressive death metal masters masterfully executing a nearly three-hour set. Most notable about the live set is that Opeth chose to kick it off by performing Blackwater Park, their artistic breakthrough, in its entirety. With an amazingly tight performance and a sparklingly clear recording, In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall is an easy addition for metal fans. If you’ve ever wanted to hear the quintessential death metal band at work live, it won’t get any more convenient than this.

Following the well-acclaimed "Firescorched", released in 2022, the new album "Something To Pierce" promises to be even more aggressive, both musically and lyrically. The band's tenth installement is a bold amalgamation of technique, aggression and experimentation; in short, "a further step towards the definition of a unique music style, which you can’t help but love…or hate," comments founding member & mastermind, Tommy Talamanca. "Like it or not, nobody sounds like Sadist!"

Piah Mater, the Brazilian progressive death metal duo, return from the blazing tropical gloom on their new album, 'Under the Shadow of a Foreign Sun'. Six years removed from their latest effort, the band picks up the broad brush of influences that gave their previous two albums a modest cult following and add new colors to the rusty canvas of the genre, aiming towards a landscape that stands as uniquely their own.
'Under the Shadow of a Foreign Sun' sees the band venturing deeper into familiar territory while still managing to bend the expectations of how far the death metal tag can be stretched. Elements of jazz fusion are more pronounced on cuts like 'Fallow Garden', with its extended solo section and interplay between guitars and saxophone, courtesy of Norwegian extraordinaire Jørgen Munkeby (Shinning, Ihsahn)…

Lauded experimental death metal band Dååth has emerged from its 13-year hiatus with a new album, The Deceivers. Band founder/guitarist Eyal Levi has overseen an overhaul of the lineup, though importantly Dååth still features force-of-nature vocalist Sean Zatorsky, who has fronted the band since 2007. “Now Dååth is more orchestrated, more over the top. We have more melodies and they're beautiful,” Levi says. That’s what The Deceivers is: Monstrously heavy but beautifully orchestrated, blessed with melodies that will haunt anybody fortunate enough to hear it. The nine tracks were produced by Levi, with Andrew Wade doing vocal production, John Douglass engineering, Jens Bogren mixing, and Tony Lindgren mastering.
