Over the years the duo of Steve Babb and Fred Schendel have had a somewhat rotating door policy to musicians and styles, but here they have gone back to what nay fans are going to love, namely classic progressive rock.
The addition of vocalist Jon Davison is a double-edge sword for the band, he shares with the Yes classic frontman not only the name similarity but also his vocal timbre is a carbon copy (coming from Yes tribute bands Roundabout and YesStory), causing this dangerous risk for the guys of being tagged as a clone band and not appreciated for the great music they make. On the other hand he sings wonderfully and if the great vocal melodies are in any part his own contribution, the choice for Jon is more than welcome…

The two legendary 1970s albums "Mandalaband" and "The Eye of Wendor" have been completely re-mixed and digitally re-mastered by David Rohl - the mastermind behind Mandalaband and composer-producer-engineer extraordinaire.
Mandalaband began life in the early 1970s when David Rohl recruited the first band line-up of Dave Durant (lead vocals), Vic Emerson (keyboards), Ashley Mulford (guitars), John Stimpson (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Tony Cresswell (drums). David played keyboards and contributed to the backing vocals - and engineered, produced and composed the music…

With her mind-blowing mix of heavy metal guitar prowess and bluesy, soulful vocals, Orianthi will draw some justifiably well-earned comparisons to such giants of rock guitar as Jimi Hendrix and her own idol, Carlos Santana, on her 2009 sophomore album, Believe – re-released in 2010 as Believe (II) with four different songs than the original version, including a cover of John Waite's "Missing You." That said, her style hews closer to the more finger-frenetic pyrotechnics of such '70s and '80s icons as Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. Throw in her ability to sell a lyric and carry a strong melodic vocal phrase while also throwing down some devastating slabs of heavy metal riffage, and she starts to look a heckuvalot like the fantasy love child of Prince and Lita Ford.

A stunning collection of some of the greatest sacred music ever written. From the great Lamentations of Byrd, Tallis and Palestrina, the listener is taken on a remarkable spiritual journey through Bach’s great St Matthew Passion, Purcell’s moving and bleak funeral music for Queen Mary, and Handel radiant Messiah. Pergolesi’s masterful setting of the Stabat Mater and Telemann’s Passions-Oratorium are also to be found here, along with Haydn’s Stabat Mater and his dark and intense masterpiece Die sieben letzen Worte, or The Seven Last Words of our Saviour from the Cross. Finally, Allegri’s hauntingly beautiful Miserere opens this collection – a work that was copied from memory after one hearing by the child Mozart. Prior to that moment the work had only been heard in the Vatican.

Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson, all members of the truly legendary BAND team up for an acoustic set recorded live at the famous Lone Star Café in New York in 1985. This show was one of several the trio performed at the venue that year, and tragically there would not be many more. Manuel took his own life in March 1986 after performing at The Cheek to Cheek Lounge in Orlando, Florida. This release contains a selection of classic Band songs including Stagefright and Shape I’m In.

The choice of Olivier Cavé, a pianist of exquisite sensibility, falls precisely on four sonatas all in minor tonality, defined by the performer himself as “authentic dramas in music”. Dramas in a structural sense, certainly, constructed by following the complex aesthetic canons of their time, of which Clementi was a great connoisseur.

Led by trombonist and singer Hector Ramos, the music of Orchestra Soledad is characterised by brash and energetic salsa arrangements created by Ramos himself, who also composed (or co-composed) all of the music featured on the LP.

Acker Bilk was a solid English Dixieland jazz clarinetist who also crossed over into easy listening albums. Acker Bilk Plays Lennon & McCartney probably won't be enjoyed by most rock or jazz fans but it is an entertaining listening experience. One of the interesting things about it is that it includes as many solo cuts from the careers of Lennon & McCartney as it does tracks that the two wrote for The Beatles. The album's sweeping string arrangements and insipid keyboard lines sometimes get in the way of Bilk's concise clarinet playing but his musical personality still manages to shine through. Bilk mostly sticks firmly to the melodies of the songs but often starts improvising at the fade out. Ultimately, the album may contain kitschy elevator music but it's of the sort that's played in the better elevators and the tunes do show how melodically gifted both John Lennon and Paul McCartney were.

The original album - remastered, with bonus disc featuring the "Dry Cleaning Ray" mini-album plus B-sides & exclusive rarities including 4 previously unreleased tracks.
The duo of Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Tim Bowness, have put out some widly diverse music, and their album "Wild Opera" is perhaps their most innovative record. Released on 31 May 1996, the album was a far darker, more beat-driven and wilfully exploratory album than the preceding Flowermouth. No-Man’s taste for melancholy balladry and cinematic Art Rock was still in evidence, but this time it was joined by Industrial, Trip-Hop and odder Pop excursions than the band had attempted before.
