Matt Monro was a regular feature of the British singles charts between 1960 and 1965, after which he had only one other UK hit (And you smiled, a top thirty entry in 1973, not released on an original album, only on compilations). Despite the lack of hits, Matt's music remained popular with adult audiences. So there are none of Matt's own hits on the two albums presented here, but you'll find plenty of familiar (and not-so-familiar) songs via Matt's covers of pop songs from the sixties and early seventies, as well as older songs from the Great American Songbook.

This is a complete revamp and re-master of the 2001 compilation.
All tracks have been re-mastered from the original UK & US mastertapes (some for the first time) by Richard Moore. All tracks on CD's 1 - 3 are now all stereo and all tracks on CD 4 apart from 16,18,19,20 23 & 24 are also now in stereo.
Many of the recordings from the Capitol sessions have not been issued in stereo on CD before and 'From Russia With Love' receives it's first release in stereo with the correct vocals from the single version (All previous stereo issues have used an alternate vocal) newly remixed by Richard from the newly rediscovered 4 track tape.
More' and 'You And Me Against The World' are now the correct solo versions rather than the duets used in error on the original edition.

Matt Monro was an English singer who became one of the most popular entertainers on the international music scene during the 1960s and 1970s. Known as The Man with the Golden Voice, he filled cabarets, nightclubs, music halls, and stadiums across the world in his 30-year career. AllMusic has described Monro as "one of the most underrated pop vocalists of the '60s", who "possessed the easiest, most perfect baritone in the business". His recordings include the UK Top 10 hits: "Portrait of My Love", "My Kind of Girl", "Softly As I Leave You", "Walk Away" and "Yesterday" (originally by The Beatles). He also recorded several film themes such as "From Russia with Love" for the James Bond film of the same name, "Born Free" for the film of the same name and "On Days Like These" for The Italian Job.
