Recorded in Mesa, Arizona on 12th August 2014. YES is one of the world s most influential, ground-breaking, and respected progressive rock bands. On August 12th 2014, YES performed two of their most popular and storied albums of their catalog in their entirety, all in one concert: Close to the Edge and Fragile at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, AZ. A must for all YES enthusiasts as well as a wonderful introduction to new fans of the band.

By 1978, southern rock was running on fumes. By 1980, most of these bands no longer existed or if they did, they no longer enjoyed the commercial success of the early to mid-70s. This live compilation of artists who recorded for the legendary Capricorn label serves as a celebration, of sorts, of the genre's most successful period. Some of the recordings date back to the early 1970s. The Allman Brothers Band's Statesboro Blues live performance at the Fillmore with Duane Allman is a different performance than the performance that appears on At Fillmore East. The inclusion of this track made this compilation very collectable among ABB fans for many years until the entire Fillmore East performances were released in 2014. And there are other rare cuts here including the only official live release from Sea Level, the band that Chuck Leavell of ABB started after the band's first breakup. Hotels, Motels and Road Shows is a fine time capsule of the 70s southern rock genre from one of the premier labels of the era. Too bad it's never been released on CD.

The Trashmen, a Minneapolis band, recorded the 1:20-minute "Surfin Bird" in the basement of George Garrett's record shop in the fall of 1963. Recorded in the basement of George Garrett's record store. When they played the tape to Bill Diehl, a DJ at Minneapolis radio station WDGY, he said it was too short and suggested they re-record it. The Trashmen were taken by Garrett to Kay Bank Studios four blocks away and re-recorded. Released in November on the Garrett label, "Surfin Bird" received airplay on WDGY, selling 3,000 copies in its first week and reaching #3 in Minneapolis in its second week. The record was distributed by Soma Records and was a hit everywhere, climbing to #4 in the U.S. in January 1964. The hit hit song "Crazy" galvanized Minneapolis teens, and many teen bands visited Kay Bank Studios to make records with Garrett, including The Gestures, who went on to become one of the most popular teen bands of all time. Some of these groups, like The Gestures and The Castaways, had national hits.This compilation is a collection of Soma Records/Kay Bank Studios-related material that captures the vibrancy of the Minneapolis teen scene from 1964 to 1966. It is full of the charm of the local teen garage scene, which was different from that of New York and Los Angeles, more down-to-earth and more "Bird Fever" than "British Fever".

Finding Prince at his physical and musical prime, his 1987-1988 shows featured the man at his best more consistently than at any other period of his career. His after-shows during this era remain the stuff of legend, with this performance, plus his equally brilliant Camden Palace ASP, on July 25th, generally considered the finest of all. His effortless ability to mix stunning cover versions and unreleased tracks alongside completely new renditions of his classics is quite remarkable, making this new CD version of this classic live event, something for Prince fans everywhere to delight in.

EXCEPTIONAL LATE -1974 CONCERT FROM DICKEY BETTS GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC SHOW After the death of Duane Allman in late 1971, Dickey Betts became the Allman Brothers Band’s sole guitarist and also took on a greater singing and leadership role. Betts, over the course of one night traveling, practiced slide guitar intensively in order to cover the majority of Duane parts. He went on to write ‘Jessica’ and the Allmans biggest commercial hit, ‘Ramblin Man’. Betts first solo album, Highway Call, was released in 1974, and featured fiddle player Vassar Clements. By this time, in large part due to Capricorn Records huge albeit unexpected success, more lucrative than anyone could have dreamed. Betts found himself free to pursue almost anything he desired musically. This situation allowed him to record Highway Call, and to perform with countless great musicians for the pure joy of playing, without any expectations of making money in the process.

After Terry Riley's revolutionary In C, it certainly never seemed that the compositionally brash cofounder of the minimalist movement would take on a lyrical bent. But that's what he's done on this collection of pieces for violin, guitar, and percussion. Violinist Tracy Silverman and guitarist David Tanenbaum play warmly and sublimely on Cantos Desiertos, finding pristine melodies and high, arching curves around which to spread their finesse. Tanenbaum gets unbelievably rich tones from his guitar, and his range is the one consistent ingredient throughout these pieces. He duets with Riley's son Gyan, himself an accomplished guitarist, on "Zamorra" and with percussionist William Winant on Dias de los Muertos. Winant's marimba and gongs are especially appropriate for Tanenbaum's resonant string work, fluctuating from an absolute crispness to a milky froth. Where Riley's chamber works, such as Salome Dances for Peace, are intensely rhythmic, these works veer much more stealthily toward a kind of glorious flowering, even if the blooms are in dusky colors and muted, curvy patterns.

Marvin, Welch & Farrar (aka MWF) were a 1970s British and Australian popular music group formed by Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch, both members of The Shadows – as a change of direction manoeuvre during 1970 to 1973 – and John Farrar (ex-The Strangers). The distinction was that while The Shadows were famous for their instrumental work, Marvin Welch & Farrar were a trio, vocal harmony group. They have been favourably compared to USA folk close harmony group Crosby Stills Nash and Young (aka CSNY) and The Hollies. Their second album, Second Opinion (1971), produced by Peter Vince, in a private poll during the 1970s by EMI record's Abbey Road's sound engineers, was voted as one of the best ever sounding albums recorded at these studios. This album is a compilation of MWF's first and second album.

This opera waited almost three centuries before its rediscovery by Antonio Florio and the Turchini orchestra. Founded in 1987 by Antonio Florio, the ensemble I Turchini consists of instrumentalists and singers living and working in Naples who specialize in the performance of Neapolitan music from the 17th and 18th centuries and in the rediscovery of music by highly-gifted composers who are now largely unknown.

Bach? No, it is the out of the box thinkers of Baroque Orchestration X, with whom he has entered into this unorthodox alliance. B.O.X. is a Flemish baroque ensemble that mainly collaborates with acts from the Indie pop scene. They worked recently together with acts such as Dez Mona, Efterklang, or Spinvis. A dreamed pact for merging different music worlds.
