This band hails from the UK and produces the kind of Neo-Prog that made the country proud back in the 1980s and 90s. The guys cite different references, with the likes of Marillion, Genesis, Yes, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Rush, Dream Theater and Pink Floyd being mentioned, but they have taken all those elements and then built them into something which is very much of their own design. Musically this is highly arranged Neo-Prog which also straddles at times into melodic hard rock and symphonic prog, by a band who are determined people are not going to forget the "rock" side of the terminology.

The very title of Goin' 50 suggests ZZ Top are considering their 50th anniversary as an event to be celebrated with a sense of humor. That's appropriate. Good spirits and lascivious jokes always have been integral to the trio's appeal, and they can be heard in abundance on this triple-CD/five-LP set that tells their story from beginning to end (there is also a single-disc edition that rounds up the highlights)…

Following the success of the Weinberg Symphonies 2 & 21 with conductor Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, Deutsche Grammophon now features chamber music by Mieczysław Weinberg under the direction of Gidon Kremer.
Included among others are his “Three Pieces for Violin and Piano”, which Weinberg completed in the winter of 1934/35 when he was only 15 years old and had not yet received any compositional training. What connects Weinberg’s works is not only their compositional perfection, but above all their constant commitment to beauty. It is a confession that in Weinberg’s music is above all pain and suffering.

This double-LP live album features 13 live performances hand-picked from the band’s 2019 European tour and includes a musical score written by Stu Mackenzie that adds a ‘magical touch of alien melancholy’ throughout the record. Chunky Shrapnel is an adrenaline fueled psychedelic trip that captures the energy of a live concert while also creating something tailored and unique to King Gizzard.

How one goes about surfing in the Arctic remains to be seen; perhaps our changing climate will make such a thing soon possible. Until then, we have to perform such a feat metaphorically, or at least do so vicariously, through the windswept beatscapes provided by the duo of Jarkko Turkulainen and Petter Friberg. The two Surfers manage to do a helluva job navigating their way across an icy tundra of expertly designed rhythm programming, over which skirt jittery synths making the most of sharp angles, steep inclines, and immaculately poised atmospheric tribbles that reflect a multitude of sun-dappled colors.

Fifth cd for Abeat, by Fausto Ferraiuolo, with an emblematic title: "the gift". Underlying the title is the meeting, in wich giving and receiving are two aspects of the same gesture. The gesture is the spark for a relationship to begin. Souls meet playing music as during the lifetime. So " il dono" is sharing. Thus, each original composition sounds like a way to repay a debt of gratitude to its illustrious traveling companions: Aldo Vigorito ( on the doublebass) with whom Ferraiuolo boasts a historic collaboration, and Jeff Ballard ( on drums) , probably one of the most requested drummers on the world stage. Jeff Ballard, thanks to his militancy in the trio of Brad Meldhau, is co-creator of a style that has determined one of the most interesting recent stylistic evolutions in the jazzscene. Great partners, great interplay, wonderful compositions for a "manifesto" of generosity.

The idea of this Aussie project, based in Melbourne, was conceived by producer Peter Dawkins, who gathered a line-up of rock veterans and session musicians to play music inspired by the four elements of the Zodiac:Spectrum and Ariel's Mike Rudd on guitars, keyboardist Tony Esterman, New Zealander Rod Coe on bass, Folk singer Mike McClellan on acoustic guitar and drummer Doug Gallacher, later of Madden & Harris…

On the SAT.1 channel, there was a weekly Die Hit-Giganten show, each time dedicated to various topics, such as Disco Hits, Neue Deutsche Welle, Pop & Wave der 80er, Rockballaden, Sommerhits and many others. Of course, this popular show also gave rise to a series of collections on CD. Here is a new collection including 60 popular love songs.

The Sauce Boss took his one-man band to Nashville to make his latest recording. On the title cut he is joined by violin, sousaphone, snare drum, and backing singers to tell the story of Blind Boy Billy, an irascible traveling fiddle player. The ragtime tune careens off the road into a down home fiddle stomp and ends up playing the blues away. Bill Wharton, aka "The Sauce Boss," takes a novel approach to blues performing, combining his love of cooking with his passion for gutsy guitar playing and singing. Wharton, who cooks up gumbo while on stage, is no flash in the pan, nor is his live act meant as some kind of cheap gimmickry; he is simply combining two things he's always loved to do: play music and cook dinner.

In music as in love, one + one can add up to not two but a new and greater one. On Heart Songs two of the world's greatest guitarists, Tommy Emmanuel and John Knowles, make this clear. Both are masters of their instrument, honored by the iconic Chet Atkins with the rare designation of CGP (Certified Guitar Players). Emmanuel has twice been voted "Best Acoustic Guitarist" by readers of Guitar Player Magazine and honored as both a "Member of the Order of Australia" and an official "Kentucky Colonel". Knowles is a Grammy winner, a member of the National Thumb Picker's Hall of Fame, and editor of the respected FingerStyle Quarterly.
