It is clear that Republic has always been an important act of the “modern” (i.e. post 1990) Hungarian rock music. They got a huge back catalogue that isn’t easy to be rated comprehensively, but it may be sure that the debut Indul a mandula is a clear stunner and one of musical milestones of the 1990s…

Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991 is the sixth studio album by American Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was the band's first new studio album since 1977's Street Survivors and the first following a 1977 plane crash that claimed the lives of three members of the band. Lead vocalist Ronnie Van Zant and lead guitarist Steve Gaines perished in a 1977 plane crash in Mississippi, and Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991 is the first album to feature their replacements, vocalist Johnny Van Zant and guitarist Randall Hall. It also marks the return of original guitarist Ed King, who parted ways with the band while touring in support of Nuthin' Fancy in 1975. It was also the final Lynyrd Skynyrd album to feature drummer Artimus Pyle, who survived the crash. Guitarist and founding member Allen Collins also survived the 1977 plane crash but died in 1990 from chronic pneumonia.

This excellent companion volume to Founder of the Delta Blues pulls together 23 more Patton tracks (including some alternate takes that were for years thought to be lost) to give a much more complete look at this amazing artist. It's interesting here to compare the tracks from his final session to his halcyon output from 1929. Highlights include "Mean Black Cat Blues," Patton's adaption of "Sitting on Top of the World" ("Some Summer Day") and both parts of "Prayer of Death," originally issued under the non de plume of "Elder J.J. Hadley." The sound on this collection is vastly superior, from a noise-reduction standpoint, to its companion volume.

Truly were a Seattle rock combo notable for featuring former Soundgarden bassist Hiro Yamamoto, but also featuring Mark Pickerel, along with Robert Roth and Chris Quinn. Their first EP was released in 1989, simply called Truly but sometimes titled after the first song on the EP, Heart And Lungs. The group would release an EP by Capitol but their two albums would remain in the indie world. This one was done by Sub Pop.

Before they were taken up by a major label as another Seattle band, Best Kissers In The World stayed in their hometown to release one of their first recordings in 1991, a 5-song self-titled EP. They released two versions, one in stereo and the other in mono, and this is the mono pressing. The closing song is a duet with singer Carrie Akre, then of Hammerbox, later of Goodness and then a solo artist.

This is the Paris Theater concert from 1973 near the end of the bands existence. They are having a very good time in front of a very appreciative audience with Chappo snarling and howling, grunting bass, slicing guitar, wailing organ/synth and rocking drums. The sound - even though mono - is really solid and soundboard clear. It's a wall of sound type mix but everything is quite clear within it. It beats some of the live bonus cuts on some of the individual album releases by miles! If you have all three of the BBC series already - you will find this a very enjoyable and glad addition as the arrangements and sheer drive are unique among the other BBC series. It is a massive rockin testament to the band.

"The Best Of Grand Funk (Railroad)" contains ten original hits from the hard rock outfit from Flint, Michigan. All of the group's hits featured in this collection cover the band's most productive period between 1969 and 1975. The first half of the disc has songs from Grand Funk's "heavy metal" period, such as the charming "Time Machine", the bluesy "Mean Mistreater" and the upbeat remake of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright"…

Dave Stewart's second album with the Spiritual Cowboys expanded the musical ideas of their debut, although it was slightly less focused and pop-oriented than its predecessor. Dave Stewart and The Spiritual Cowboys was an English band, formed in 1990 after frontman David A. Stewart's departure from Eurythmics. Chris Bostock from JoBoxers, Jonathan Perkins, Olle Romo and Nan Vernon were later joined by Martin Chambers from The Pretenders and John Turnbull from Ian Dury and The Blockheads. They made two albums: the self titled Dave Stewart and the Spiritual Cowboys and Honest. Their live stage act is characterized by spiritual icons and a unique double drum kit played by two drummers.

Tanganyika Strut is the last of the three 1958 Savoy recordings made by jazz musicians John Coltrane and Wilbur Harden. The album would be Harden's last as a leader. The sessions also produced a couple of alternate takes which can be found on some compilations, most notably the ones featuring the complete Savoy recordings made by Harden and Coltrane together, The Complete Mainstream 1958 Sessions (2009) and The Complete Savoy Sessions (1999).

The five symphonies by the 'London Bach' on this Hungaroton disc have been chosen from three different collections. Bach's first set (Op. 3), though not his first essays in symphonic writing, printed in London in 1765, is represented by Symphonies No. 1 in D major and No. 2 in C major. From Op. 6 come Symphony No. 1 in G major and what is probably the strongest and best known work in the programme, No. 6 in G minor. Lastly there is Symphony No. 2 in E flat major from a set of three collected under the title Op. 9, printed in The Hague.

High Civilization is the nineteenth studio album by British pop group the Bee Gees, released on 25 March 1991 in the U.K., and 14 May 1991 in the U.S. It was their last album recorded for Warner Bros. Records, after a four-year contract (they would return to WB through subsidiary Reprise Records in 2006: after gaining the rights to their previously released material, they reissued each album through Reprise). Possibly in reaction to firm resistance from U.S. radio to the previous two albums, E.S.P. (1987) and One (1989), which had done well in other countries, the U.S.-based Warner Bros gave this one less promotion and did not issue remixes. They recorded this album and their next album Size Isn't Everything with engineer Femi Jiya.

Both more and less than what a partnership of Sumner and Marr would promise, Electronic's debut has weathered time much better than might have been thought upon its release, but ultimately only half works. When it does, though, it's fantastic, sometimes shifting from okay to fantastic within the same song. Opening number "Idiot Country" is a bit like that - the beginning sounds a little too rushed, Marr's heavy wah-wah riff OK enough but Sumner's semi-rap/semi-sung vocals a bit ham-handed. By the time the full combination of gentle keyboards, crisp rhythms, and the gentle, reflective chorus comes to bear, though, everything feels just great…

One of the 1970s' most successful hard rock bands in spite of critical pans and somewhat reluctant radio airplay (at first), Grand Funk Railroad built a devoted fan base with constant touring, a loud, simple take on the blues-rock power trio sound, and strong working-class appeal…
