Sometimes, a musical accident happens which brings together strands from the past to make something genuinely new and original, but somehow familiar. Maya is one of those bands.

Kim Chandler’s voice needs no processing, no augmenting, and simply demands to be enjoyed. Her songs come from, and speak to, the heart and explore self-belief, unity and redemption. The twin acoustic guitar tapestry provided by Bernie Devine and John Tobin creates a sensitive but musically interesting support to Kim’s innocent purity, blending folk, jazz and blues with world music flavours including Spanish and Indian tonalities.

The band formed in 2002 as a distillation of a one-off musical collaboration amongst some of the leading musicians in heritage-steeped St Albans. Since then, Maya have performed only a limited number of concerts at small venues, Arts Theatres and Festivals as they honed their own sound and wrote and recorded their debut album, ‘Revelations’, released by Paradise Music in 2004.

'Revelations' is inspirational songwriting - Songs composed and sung from the heart with a true respect for the divine. Featuring 9 songs, this album takes the listener to a world of peace and calm.

They showcase a rare, instantly recognisable vocal talent who is attracting fans of all ages and musical tastes. Importantly for a live band, they deliver something special every time whilst allowing space for improvisation so no two performances are quite the same.

Responsible for one of the most eclectic catalogs of recent memory, Fantômas return with Suspended Animation, a thirty-track set that both celebrates the art of cartoon composition and the many reasons to behold the fourth month of our calendar, April (with one piece for each day of the month). Who knew that April is subtitled “national humor and anxiety month”? Who knew that the dreaded April 15 was actually titled “That Sucks Day” or that April 24 marks the beginning of National Karaoke Week? Leave it to the creative minds behind Fantômas to enlighten us to the many forgotten holidays throughout April.

The brainchild of Mike Patton, Fantômas is an anti-hero from a series of pre-WWI French crime novels, sometimes dubbed the “lord of terror.” Rounding out the ensemble are Buzz Osborne on guitar (Melvins), Trevor Dunn on bass (Mr. Bungle, Trevor Dunn’s Trio Convulsant) and Dave Lombardo on drums (Slayer).

There are a number of fine couplings of the Chopin concertos in the catalog, however, so highly regarded were these Rubinstein recordings that for decades they were the standard by which all others were measured.

“ Zager and Evans were a Lincoln, Nebraska rock-pop duo of the late 1960s and early 1970s named after its two members, Denny Zager and Rick Evans, who met at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Artists Dave Trupp and Mark Dalton backed up the duo.

Zager and Evans are best known for their immensely popular "In the Year 2525." written by Rick Evans. The song warned of the dangers of technology, portraying a future in which the human race would at length be destroyed by its own technological and medical innovations and Divine wrath. The last stanza of the song intimates a continuing cycle of birth, death and rebirth of mankind.„
