Mauricio Kagel is a conductor, writer, teacher and self-taught composer, initially influenced by avant-garde figures such as Boulez and Stockhausen. 'Szenario,' scored for string orchestra and tape, was conceived as an independent work, but quickly found a new role as musical backing to the Luis Bunuel/Salvador Dali silent classic 'Le chien andalou'. Duodramen can be heard either as an orchestral song-cycle in the tradition of Mahler or as an operatic 'final scene' in the tradition of Wagner or Richard Strauss. Composed during 1989-90, 'Liturgien' is Kagel's take on a sacred service so as to illuminate its musical essence from a new perspective.

Nazareth are a Scottish rock band that had several hard rock hits in the mid 1970s, including the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant penned ballad, "Love Hurts." Nazareth was formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, out of the ashes of semi-professional local group The Shadettes (formed in 1961) by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton (ex Mark V and The Red Hawks), bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. 'Beautiful' is the third single from Akon's third studio album 'Freedom'. The single was originally released with only Akon on the track, however the album version features Colby O'Donis and Kardinal Offishall. It was released to U.S. Top 40 radio on January 6th 2009. The song describes Akon seeing a girl in a club that he is attracted to, and wanting to go over and meet her. He describes her in the song as being beautiful. 'Beautiful' managed to become a top twenty hit in 2008 the previous year before its official release. Due to high digital sales, the song debuted at No.19 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week of December 10th 2008, the week following the release of 'Freedom'. It is Akon's eighth top twenty hit as a lead artist, and his seventeenth top twenty overall. The single debuted on the UK Singles Chart on March 1st 2009, and has so far peaked at No.8, on the UK R&B Chart it has so far peaked at No.3. The official video was made in early January, with an MTV contest sending a winner to be in the video. Colby O'Donis, Kardinal Offishall, Tyrese, A. R. Rahman, Harpreet Singh Lubana and Sean Kingston all make appearances.
