A double CD set tracing the best of the one and only Pretty Things. This compilation takes us through the period in the late sixties and early seventies when the band were at the cutting edge of the Psychedelic movement. Includes 'SF Sorrow is Born', 'Parachute' and 'L.S.D'. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the Beatles' Revolver, Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and the Dukes of Stratosphear.

Sigiswald Kuijken was born in 1944 close to Brussels. He studied violin at the conservatories of Bruges and Brussels, completing his studies at the latter institution with Maurice Raskin in 1964. He came into contact with early music at a very young age, together with his brother Wieland. Studying on his own, he gained a thorough knowledge of specific 17th- and 18th-century performance techniques and conventions of interpretation on violin and viola da gamba This led to the introduction, in 1969, of a more authentic way of playing the violin, whereby the instrument was no longer held under the chin, but lay freely on the shoulder; this was to have a crucial influence on the approach to the violin repertoire and was consequently adopted by many players starting in the early 1970s.

Beginning as one of rock's all-time great (and influential) blues-rock bands, the Yardbirds had taken a turn toward the psychedelic side of things once Jeff Beck replaced Eric Clapton, as evidenced by 1966's Over Under Sideways Down. As with Beatles and Rolling Stones albums from around this era, the U.K. and U.S. versions would often differ with album titles and altered track listings, and as a result, quite a few tracks slipped through the cracks. The same was true of the Yardbirds. But the 2002 Repertoire reissue of Over Under Sideways Down finally compiles all the tracks from this era on one single disc – the end result being 22 tracks of the Yardbirds at their creative peak.

Live at Carnegie Hall captures Stevie Ray Vaughan on the supporting tour for his second album, 1984's Couldn't Stand the Weather. The Carnegie Hall concert was a special show, since it was the only time Vaughan and Double Trouble added the brass section from Roomful of Blues to augment their sound; in addition, the concert featured guest appearances from Stevie's brother Jimmie and Dr. John. There might have been more musicians than usual on-stage, but Stevie Ray remains the center of attention, and he is in prime form here, tearing through a selection of his best-known songs which generally sound tougher in concert than they do in the studio. It's the best live Stevie Ray record yet released.

Since its release in 1984, 'Reckless' has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. It has spawned huge hits such as 'Run to You', 'Kids Wanna Rock', 'Somebody', 'Summer of '69', 'One Night Love Affair' and 'It's Only Love' a duet with the incomparable Tina Turner. 'Reckless' also gave Bryan his first U.S. #1 on Billboard with 'Heaven' as well as a Diamond Award for over a million sold in his home country of Canada. The album was the turning point in Adams' career, leading him to tour all over the world and garner legions of fans with his legendary live shows.

Foxy Brown is a 1974 American blaxploitation film written and directed by Jack Hill. It stars Pam Grier as the title character, described by one character as "a whole lot of woman" who showcases unrelenting sexiness while battling the villains. The film was released by American International Pictures as a double feature with Truck Turner. The film's songs were written and performed by Willie Hutch, and a soundtrack album was released on Motown Records in 1974.

The fourteenth and final show from the 1995 European tour – The second night at the Royal Albert Hall. While waiting for definitive notes from Sid the Smith, we continue to use Stormy’s show notes. His personal highlights were Dinosaur, a “nice” One Time, good Soundscape intro and B’Boom, Thrakking, and Heartbeat. Overall a good show.

Tyrone Davis was a leading American blues and soul singer with a distinctive style, recording a long list of hit records over a period of more than twenty years. He had three no. 1 hits on the Billboard R&B chart: "Can I Change My Mind," "Turn Back The Hands Of Time" and "Turning Point." Davis released about 25 singles during his seven years with Dakar, most of them big R&B sellers produced by Willie Henderson. He finally returned to the top spot with "Turning Point" in 1975. Soon afterwards, Davis switched to the major Columbia record label and recorded seven albums over the next five years with producer Leo Graham and arranger James Mack who had collaborated with him for "Turning Point". Major hits with Columbia included "Give It Up," "This I Swear" and "In The Mood." Dubbed the "King of Romantic Chicago Soul" by MTV, Davis' perceived vulnerability and class endeared him to female soul fans through the 70's.

Chamber music has always formed the heart of Maria Joao Pires musicianship. Indeed, she has often commented that she is happier working with others than performing on her own. Not sharing a stage is very difficult for me, she once remarked (in an interview for ArtsJournal in 2012). You are apart from the group, apart from community, apart from everything. You become different and special. And, if you become different and special, youre alone.

Rufus Thomas' first album following Stax's break from the Atlantic had "Do the Funky Chicken" as its centerpiece, so the emphasis upon good-humored dance tunes was unsurprising. There were some weird moments, particularly the down-and-bestial seven-minute update of "Sixty Minute Man" (on which Rufus sounds like he's singing in tongues), a remake of "Bear Cat," and a two-part version of "Old McDonald Had a Farm."
