Rudolf Buchbinder, l’un des plus grands pianistes de sa génération, fête en 2016 ses 70 ans. ARTE rend hommage à cet immense instrumentiste à travers un concert exceptionnel, enregistré dans un endroit inattendu : la manufacture transparente Volkswagen de la ville de Dresde. Buchbinder y interprète le Concerto pour piano en ré mineur et des extraits du Concerto en ut majeur de Mozart, accompagné de l’orchestre de la Staatskapelle de Dresde, qu’il dirige lui-même.

"Down to the Bone" is Quiet Riot's eighth album recorded at Ocean Studios, Burbank Calif. Solid guitar work and pretty good vocals. It remains their heaviest album to date, but Down to the Bone is only for the dedicated Quiet Riot fans who weren't already turned off by their past few releases.

The Cross & the Crucible is the fifth studio album by the British neo-progressive band Pallas, released in 2001. The album was recorded in their own studio The Mill in Crathes, Aberdeenshire in the winter of 2000 to 2001. For the first time Pallas use guest musicians. The song The Cross And The Crucible is based on the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Classic Rock & Roll is designed and signed as a reference on your choice of several exchangers file. Borrowing the idea of an instrumental combo and loud amplification from rock & roll, the original blues-rockers bands like Cream that grew out of the Alexis Korner and John Mayall tradition of British blues, as well as American bands like the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Canned Heat also attempted to play long, involved improvisations which were commonplace on jazz records, as well as live blues shows. That sort of music was the primary influence for the bar band style, a genial brand of rock & roll equally suited to dancing, drinking, partying, or just hanging out.

The dilruba is an old rare Indian Classical instrument with a meditative quality and a heartfelt sound that goes well with other instruments, creating a rich tapestry of sounds that touches the heart and relaxes the body-mind. This can be heard in "Mystic Journey", an album that features the dilruba combined with other instruments such as Indian bansuri (bamboo flute), santoor and zither. The album starts slowly with the dilruba and flute spontaneously responding to each other as if in an intimate heart to heart communion. The album ends even more slowly, taking the listener on a relaxing inner journey, step by step, deeper and deeper…

Peiwoh is the long-awaited second solo album by the extraordinary singer/harpist Arianna Savall. Both the music and the repertoire of Peiwoh expand greatly on her debut album Bella Terra. Here, the music is performed by a unique nine-piece ensemble including brother Ferran Savall on vocals and theorbo. The album's theme is based on the taoist tale of Prince Peiwoh, who played a magical harp whose stubborn spirit could only be tamed by the greatest of musicians. This album, like so many on the Alia Vox label, represents a seamless blending of various traditions from east and west, classical and world. Arianna Savall plays a variety of instruments ranging from the small Gothic harp to the majestic Celtic harp.

Johnny Britt is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, trumpeter, arranger and composer in the entertainment industry. Johnny has two #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Singles and currently has a third that has been #1 on the same chart for eight straight weeks.

Kat Parra is a jazz vocalist, composer, lyricist and arranger with an international perspective. Her style is strongly influenced by world music, especially from Latin America, Spain and the Middle East. Her latest project, SONGBOOK OF THE AMÉRICAS, is her fifth CD as a leader. The CD pays tribute to women composers from both North, Central and South America as well as original music and lyrics penned by Parra. In 2008 and 2010, Parra was awarded “Best Latin Jazz Vocalist” by the online blog Latin Jazz Corner. She also received a 2008 nomination for “Latin Jazz Album of the Year” from the Jazz Journalists Association.

Royal Blue is the first Alligator release from Koko Taylor since 1993's Grammy nominated Force of Nature. This is a mainly up-tempo set with excellent support from several guest appearances by B.B. King, Johnny Johnson, Ken Saydak, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd who contributes some scorching guitar on the Melissa Ethridge-penned hit "Bring Me Some Water." Taylor not only co-produced this release but wrote four of the 12 tracks, including the acoustic "The Man Next Door." On this track, the combination of Koko's passionate voice with Keb Mo's gritty Delta slide guitar makes you wish she would move further in this direction on future releases. Royal Blue proves Koko Taylor is still the undisputed queen of the blues.

Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the second half of the twentieth century. In celebration of her 75th birthday, Sony Classical is pleased to release Martha Argerich The Complete Sony Classical Recordings, a new 5-CD original jackets collection featuring two albums available for the first time on CD remastered from the original analogue tapes.

Tony Monaco is a leader in a modest revival of the Hammond B3 organ in jazz. As he has been with so many fledgling jazz organists, Jimmy Smith played a significant role in attracting Monaco to jazz and retaining his interest in the music. Monaco was 12 years old when he first heard Smith and, as a 16th birthday present, got a phone call from the organ giant. The culmination of this association came when Smith invited the young performer to join him at Smith's club. Monaco has also been fortunate to spend time with other jazz organ masters, including Hank Marr and Dr. Lonnie Smith. He started subbing for players, like Marr, in and around Columbus, OH, when he was just 16. Monaco has also been helped along by one of his peers, Joey DeFrancesco, who produced Monaco's first album, Burnin' Grooves, and joined the session on piano. Monaco added horns to his second album, Master Chops T, released in 2002, giving the Hammond organ player much more flexibility to the arrangements.

This is even more notable for artists from Cádiz, that privileged region of old Europe for business with the Americas.

Alice Underground is Tash Cox vocals, bass, piano; Sasha Travis, vocals; Scott Landes, guitar, piano; Gordon Bash, standup bass, piano, guitar, vocals; and Steve Kefalas, drums, percussion. The band members boast eclectic and impressive resumes. Lead vocalist Tash Cox formerly sang with The Beta Machine, which included members of A Perfect Circle and Eagles of Death Metal. Tash has also sung in many operas, Neely Bruce’s, “Circular 14: The Apotheosis of Aristides” being her favorite. Scott Landes has played with Collide, Android Lust, I, Parasite, and ¡BASH!, among others. Steve Kefalas has also been a member of Android Lust, I, Parasite, and ¡BASH!. Gordon Bash is an active jazz and rock musician, that has appeared on America’s Got Talent playing with William Close. He heads up the punk/rockabilly band ¡BASH!, and is also the bassist for the popular ska band Save Ferris. Sasha Travis is a singer, producer, director, and all-around artist. She has directed and produced for the Labyrinth Masquerade Ball, and Golden Stag events, written and directed for the Astra Dance Theater, and been a long time co-collaborator at Sypher Arts Studio.

In many ways, the mixed collection of live and studio recordings on Stars & Stripes Forever accomplished for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and rock music what Sweetheart of the Rodeo failed to do for or with the Byrds, showing the rock band plunging deeply into country music. Two years in the making, it incorporated new studio cuts and live tracks recorded at five concerts over a two-year period, as well as interview material with guest fiddle player Vassar Clements. The mix works better than just about any genuine country (as opposed to country-rock) effort ever done by a rock band, mostly because the band was so careful in their recording and editing, and they gave themselves time to get this stuff just the way they wanted it.
