Love at Last is pianist Lara Downes’s first Pentatone album, inspired by the poem Sachki, Sachki by the Odessa-born Jewish writer Shaul Tchernichovsky. This exciting album was recorded on October 4 & 5th, 1965 in Los Angeles. Much of its success must be attributed to a sensitive and imaginative producer, David Hubert. The morning of the 25th found Lightnin' in an excellent mood; as a matter of fact, a number of the bands required only one "take" at the session, most unusual under any conditions. Years ago, Lightnin' recorded with rhythm sections, but never any like the one on this album. Jimmy Bond on bass, and Earl Palmer on drums, laid down a quiet, but bluesy beat that "turned Lightnin' on". Lightnin' himself plays and sings with the vitality of any young artist today. Anyone who digs the blues will be emotionally moved by this album.

Joyce Moreno (who long performed simply as Joyce) is a globally renowned singer, composer, arranger, and guitarist from Brazil. Declared "one of the greatest singers" by Antônio Carlos Jobim, her sound is at once sophisticated and welcoming, cutting across samba and bossa nova to MPB, jazz, and Brazilian folk forms. In 1967, her song "Me Disseram" caused a national controversy: It was the first composition by a Brazilian woman written from the viewpoint of the first-person feminine gender. Her recording career has resulted in more than 35 albums and 400 original songs, many of which have been recorded by some of the world's greatest singers and musicians. 1980's Feminina is widely considered a classic for its joyous celebration of the feminine experience, while future award winners Água e Luz and Tardes Cariocas underscored that approach.

The pseudonym Laurence Vanay belongs to female musician Jacqueline Thibault, wife of Magma's early bassist Laurent Thibault. In 1974 she released her first personal LP for SFP, entitled ''Galaxies''. She was helped by Laurent Thibault on bass, Jean Chevalier on drums, Serge Derrien (later with Keris) on guitars, flutes and voices, while Jacqueline Thibault plays the Hammond organ, the acoustic guitars and sings. The album has a mystic and beautiful atmosphere, pointing out the talent of Thibault in creating great moods and arranging. It is close to the majestic moments of Catharsis and the folkier themes of Ange, while sounding quite personal allthe way. A mix of Folk Music and light Symphonic Rock, ''Galaxies'' has a smooth sound from start to end with brilliant and ethereal soundscapes created by the soft acoustic passages, the careful use of Hammond organ and the elegant style the flutes are used…

Her first album in eight years and her Warp debut, Leila's Blood, Looms and Blooms almost didn't happen: after the release of 2000's moody, murky The Courtesy of Choice, she lost both of her parents and, for a long time, her interest in making music. With the encouragement of her friends and family, Leila returned to the studio and recorded these songs, often with her family and friends - who include Terry Hall and Martina Topley-Bird - in there with her. While Blood, Looms and Blooms' very existence is somewhat surprising, it's even more remarkable that this is Leila's most uplifting work, given the loss that preceded it.
