Unlike any other singer/songwriters saddled with the appellation of "the new Dylan" in the early '70s, Springsteen never hid how he was raised on '60s AM radio. He loved rock & roll, whether it was the initial blast from the '50s or the mini-symphonies from the days before the Beatles or the garage rockers that surfaced in the wake of the British Invasion, and all this could be heard within his wild, wooly collective E Street Band, a group who debuted on his second album, 1973's The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and who would support him throughout most of his career.

Two discs, 31 tracks – that's a lotta Bachman-Turner Overdrive even for some die-hard fans – but that's what Anthology offers, complete with remastered sound, liner notes, and a handful of rarities, including the previously unreleased "Stayed Awake All Night" and four "quad mixes." These rarities aren't enticing for anybody but hardcore followers and, really, most listeners will be better served by Greatest Hits, which contains all the radio hits. Here, those are surrounded by album tracks, ranging from pedestrian to pretty good, actually. BTO doesn't really have any hidden gems, per se, yet there's enough good stuff here to satisfy fans of the big hits who want to hear a little bit more. That doesn't mean it's perfect, or even consistently entertaining, but it does prove that there's more than just the hits to BTO.

Four decades of Alphaville! As one of the few German bands, the pop formation founded by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens has managed to gain a permanent place in the international music scene with hits such as "Big in Japan", "Forever Young" and "Sounds like a Melody" and to inspire generations of fans. And that continues to this day: In the fall, the band's first career-spanning retrospective will be released: "ALPHAVILLE FOREVER! - BEST OF 40 YEARS" will be available from September 27, 2024 - exactly 40 years to the day after the release of the debut album "Forever Young".

One More River To Cross is the tenth studio album by Canned Heat, released in 1973. The band negotiated out of their contract with Liberty Records and debuted with Atlantic Records. This album featured horn arrangements played by the Muscle Shoal Horns along with Barry Beckett and Roger Hawkins. The album cover was designed by Ernie Cefalu.

Cellar Music boss Cory Weeds returns with another fine recording backed by the dependently swinging rhythm section of frequent Cellar Music players (pianist Miles Black, bassist John Lee, and drummer Jesse Cahill) and alongside the famously big horn of Jerry Weldon! Weeds is an accomplished and highly stylized tenor man cut from the swinging cloth of Gene Ammons, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and George Coleman. On 'Meets Jerry Weldon', this winning formula continues. This recording is not sheepish about acknowledging its two-tenor front line influences.

The Principle of Moments is the second solo studio album by the English singer Robert Plant, formerly of Led Zeppelin. It was Plant's second Top 10 album in the US and UK. It also gave him his first solo Top 40 hit with "Big Log". The most popular track on album-oriented rock radio in the US was "Other Arms", which reached number-one on the Billboard Top Tracks chart. Genesis' drummer Phil Collins played drums for five of the album's eight songs (as he did on Pictures at Eleven). On the other two tracks former Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow performed. On the closing track "Big Log", Gerald Woodroffe programmed a Roland TR-808 drum machine. Like Plant's debut solo studio album, Pictures at Eleven (1982), the songs departed from the hard rock sound of Led Zeppelin. Following the strength of these albums, Plant launched a successful tour in 1983. Phil Collins was the drummer for Plant's band for the North American portion of the tour. Collins was content to perform in the background, despite his own enormous success as a solo artist and with Genesis at the time. Little Feat's Richie Hayward played drums for the remaining dates.

The baritone Andrè Schuen releases a further pre-release track of his upcoming album Mozart, a beautifully curated project of Mozart arias, duets and songs. The album celebrates Schuen’s deep and longstanding relationship to the composer and his birth- and creative place Salzburg.
