This album is the original score for the third season of HBO's acclaimed drama series Euphoria, created and directed by Sam Levinson. The series — whose first two seasons became renowned for the music of Labrinth (Timothy Lee McKenzie) — returned on April 12, 2026, after a four-year absence, featuring a five-year time jump that moves the characters out of high school and into young adulthood.The score was composed by two-time Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, known for Interstellar, Dune, Gladiator, Inception, and The Lion King. Zimmer was initially announced as a co-composer alongside the returning Labrinth, but in March 2026, shortly before the premiere, Labrinth publicly distanced himself from the project and from Columbia Records, announcing his departure and the removal of his music from the season. As a result, Zimmer became the sole composer of the soundtrack.

The film is telling the story in present day, but of course we have flashbacks to WWII to fill in the history of Maria’s backstory. This ended up being a pretty easy split for the two composers. Phipps composed the music to accompany the main present day storyline, while Zimmer took the WWII era flashbacks. The result is a score that congeals quite well despite the two composers taking two separate thematic approaches…

Intrada announces the 30th anniversary, two-CD set of Hans Zimmer's score for the 1995 political-action thriller Crimson Tide. Zimmer was truly flying high in his career by the mid-1990s. He had successfully made the jump from London to Hollywood and had just won an Academy Award® for his score for The Lion King (1994). His sound was going through an evolution during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and it was on Backdraft (1991) that Zimmer fully embraced meshing an orchestra with his trademark synthesizers. It was also the start of the “power anthem” for which Zimmer would become known. Crimson Tide marks the full maturing of this style that would continue to be heard most notably in The Rock (1996) and The Peacemaker (1997). Zimmer won a GRAMMY® for Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television for Crimson Tide. The main theme of Crimson Tide is a signature power anthem that embodies heroism and bravura, and in this expanded presentation of the score one can fully appreciate how it’s used throughout the narrative. Another cinematic episode in the continuing Pirates of the Caribbean franchise means another Hans Zimmer soundtrack…right? Well, yes and no. It's true that Zimmer, with his trademarked European sense of flair, has scored Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides with his usual orchestra and choir, but there are a couple of twists to make things a tad more interesting. Zimmer, a longtime fan of virtuoso acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela from Mexico, decided to incorporate them into his score, which is rich in Latin and flamenco themes. They are prominently featured on no less than five cues here. In fact, it's more like the selections that include Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Angelica," "The Pirate That Should Not Be," "South of Heaven's Chanting Mermaids," "Palm Tree Escape," and "Angry and Dead Again" - feature their flashy, soulful guitar work in the foreground adorned by Zimmer's strings, voices, brass, and woodwind sections…
