Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition) is due for release on Oct 4, 2024, celebrating the original album’s 30th anniversary. Written when Aphex Twin (Richard D. James) was in his early 20s, the album gained critical acclaim both upon release and retrospectively (10/10 Pitchfork review, #2 Best Ambient Album of All Time, 4 star Rolling Stone review + more). Aphex Twin and SAW II’s influence continues to grow and take new meaning across generations.

Fans of Moby's ambient work might not find this record as appealing as those who favor Moby's aggressive side. However, it might be hard for anyone to resist the hard soloing on songs like the Prince-meets-Minor Threat thrash-fest "Come on Baby" or the slam-fests that are "Someone to Love," "Heavy Flow," and "You." "Soft" and "Say it's All Mine" bring the pace down for a few moments to allow those slam-dancing in their bedrooms to rest for a moment. "Face it" could almost pass for a Black Sabbath cover. The excellent "That's When I Reach for My Revolver" is a Mission of Burma cover.

The band’s origins go back to 1965 at the University of Sussex in Brighton when Lynton Naiff (keyboards), Grant Serpell (drums), and Nick Nicholas (double bass) formed the US Jazz Trio to perform at University events and local gigs. When Serpell graduated a year later he was replaced by Mo Foster who had earlier been playing bass guitar in his school band but had now switched to drums. In 1968, Naiff, Serpell and Foster recruited Mike Jopp on guitar and the outstanding vocalist Linda Hoyle to form Affinity. The band made their live debut in October 1968 and soon appeared on the BBC radio show Jazz Club. Legendary saxophonist and club owner Ronnie Scott heard a recording of this performance and subsequently agreed to manage them and give them regular bookings at his world-famous jazz club.

The Producers were a collective of Trevor Horn friends and associates that formed in 2006, played some intimate live venues and went on the road and then eventually recorded an excellent album called Made in Basing Street (released in 2012). The band were record producers Trevor Horn (bass and vocals), Steve Lipson (guitar and programming), songwriter/producer Chris Braide (keyboards, guitar and vocals) and musicians Lol Creme (guitar and vocals) and Ash Soan (drums). For the album, other contributors included legendary keyboard player Geoff Downes (from the Buggles, Yes and Asia) and Horn’s ‘go to’ percussionist Luís Jardim (he has played on many Horn-produced albums including Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, Grace Jones, Seal etc).
