Aversed formed in Boston with guitarist Sungwoo Jeong and bassist Martin Epstein remaining the sole members from the early days. By 2016, with the additions of drummer Jeff Saltzman (now also of Allegaeon) and guitarist Alden Marchand, the band released their impactful EP, ‘Renewal,’ demonstrating their ambition and future promise. Their blend of extreme instrumentation and tender melodicism was highlighted with 2021’s full-length CD, ‘Impermanent,’ displaying further growth, musicianship and potential. Now joined by Sarah Hartman on vocals Aversed are armed with a new album full of rage and yearning. ‘Erasure of Color’ presents a glimpse of hope and beauty on a backdrop of raging, mournful Gothic Extreme Metal.

After the great success of "The Tower", Bob and Gary Hughes got together again for the follow-up - "Legends". It was during this period that Bob and Gary first discussed their mutual love for the work of JRR Tolkein, which planted a seed in Gary’s mind, which finally led to this full-blown concept album based around Tolkein’s work on "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings".
"Middle Earth" is, of course, the mythical world where all these events take place, and once again Gary’s wonderfully evocative lyrics fully immerse us into this wonderful and colourful universe…

Other than a set in 1957, this long-out-of-print LP was guitarist Jim Hall's debut as a leader. The 29-year-old Hall was not exactly an unknown name at the time, having played with the Original Chico Hamilton Quintet and the Jimmy Giuffre Three; he was still a year away from joining Sonny Rollins. Subtitled "The Modest Jazz Trio," the band on this date consists of Hall, bassist Red Kelly, and Red Mitchell quite effectively playing piano (he was usually a bassist). The combination works quite well, performing what was essentially straight-ahead jazz. Originally, the unit was only supposed to record the "Good Friday Blues" for a blues anthology album, but the music felt so strong that the trio cut a full album in one day, performing three standards, two Mitchell originals and Bill Harris' "Bill Not Phil."

In King Crimson's extensive catalog of archival recordings and box sets, The Great Deceiver (Live 1973-1974) is the undisputed winner, the item truly worth acquiring. The four-CD set Frame by Frame, released 18 months earlier, was light on material previously unavailable and included a few edits and overdubs on classic King Crimson tracks that shocked the fans. Epitaph, another four-CD collection culled from the group's first live shows in 1969, boasted understandably flawed sound and more repetitive content. But The Great Deceiver has it all. Over four discs, the set chronicles the on-stage activity between October 1973 and June 1974 of the most powerful King Crimson lineup. Robert Fripp, John Wetton, David Cross, and Bill Bruford were mostly performing material from their previous two LPs (Larks Tongues in Aspic and Starless and Bible Black)…

At its best music can lift you, transport you, and help you out of the darkest places. Music also creates a connection to personal memories and your younger self through nostalgia. We bond with people that matter through sharing the music we love. After listening to this album for the last month I realised that not only was this the first time I’d not been the first to review a Babylon A.D. album this millennium, but also that I was loving it so much that getting in there first didn’t matter only enjoying the music did. The other reason for not getting in there first is that I’m in Northern Vietnam at the moment and chilling in the beauty of this country. This album has my constant companion since I’ve been here, things couldn’t be more perfect…

Out of Nowhere is a live album by trumpeter Chet Baker which was recorded in Oklahoma on Christmas eve in 1982 and first released on the Milestone label in 1991.
