Guns, Cinderella, Britny Fox are big influences for Bai Bang.

Contact was Freda Payne's fourth American released album and her second for Invictus Records. The majority of the material on this album contains sad themes, with the exception of "You Brought the Joy." The album begins with a dramatic 11-minute medley of "I'm Not Getting Any Better" and "Suddenly It's Yesterday," both of which were written by Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier. Some people thought that Holland and Dozier were trying to compete with Diana Ross's hit "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" as both songs contain spoken segments and dramatic musical arrangements. The only cover song is "He's in My Life", which was an album track by The Glass House featuring Freda's sister Scherrie Payne. It was written by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland (under their common pseudonym "Edythe Wayne" to avoid copyright claims by their former employer Motown), jointly with Ron Dunbar.

Gary Puckett & the Union Gap were originally an actual band, but by the time the musicians entered the recording studio with producer and songwriter Jerry Fuller, the focus fell on Puckett's strong, smooth baritone voice, and the Union Gap part of the equation was buried under a MOR barrage of strings, horns, and choirs. The formula worked, however, and the group enjoyed five Top 40 hits between 1967 and 1969.

The second volume of Gord's Gold follows the same tradition of the first but in this case, it doesn't make sense, for re-recording tunes which were already in an updated sound defeats the purpose. I suppose Lightfoot just wasn't too thrilled with the original mixes so rather than remixing, he chose to do them over again.

Now Voyager is the second solo album to be recorded by Barry Gibb, although it was his first to be released. Gibb had recorded an entire album in 1970 called The Kid's No Good, which never received official release. The album contains his biggest hits "Shine, Shine" and "Fine Line". The album also included the Olivia Newton-John duet "Face to Face", which was released as a promo single. In 1986, Gibb recorded his third solo album Moonlight Madness, which remains unreleased, leaving Now Voyager his only officially released album. Gibb co-produced the album with Karl Richardson, who worked with the Bee Gees from 1976 to 1979. Richardson worked with Barry until 1986, his last project with Barry being Moonlight Madness.

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils spent most of their existence identified as a country-pop band, but when they first got together, they were a country outfit with some specific roots rock influences, closer in spirit to the Byrds of Sweetheart of the Rodeo than to the Eagles or Poco, and more of the real article – as all of the bandmembers were still living in Springfield, MO – than even the Byrds were by 1968. These sessions – dating from the summer of 1972, well over a year before the band first recorded and before it even had a name – represent those roots, and the songs also arguably represent the Daredevils' finest body of work, with sweet and unpretentious harmonies and stripped-down (yet often very sweet) playing (check out "On Our Carousel," which could have been a single and is worth the price of the disc), all within a much purer country idiom than the band later manifested.
