Formed in Southern California, Dayseeker have evolved from post-hardcore mainstays into one of the most emotionally and stylistically fluid bands in heavy music today. Polish pianist, claviolinist, composer, and instrument builder Sławomir Zubrzycki announces the release of his new album ‘Viola Organista: Monologues & Dialogues’, a landmark recording that brings to life one of the most enigmatic inventions in the history of music: the viola organista, a long-forgotten bowed keyboard instrument originally sketched by Leonardo da Vinci. Produced by Nils Frahm and featuring works by Dowland, Marais, J.S. Bach, and others.

Austrian Syndicate…the phrase immediately brings to mind the best-known and most influential of all Austrians in jazz, Joe Zawinul. And yet David Helbock’s project is much more than just a homage to his compatriot. It is a return to the roots of fusion jazz and how things developed from then on. It is also a new direction stylistically for Helbock, who has harnessed a panoply of inspiration with a refreshing openness to new sounds from far and wide. As Helbock himself puts it: "This is close to my heart." Helbock has been able to enlist the best rhythm section in Austria for the Syndicate: Raphael Preuschl on bass and bass ukulele, drummer Herbert Pirker and percussionist Claudio Spieler. The quintet also has an American in it, one for whom becoming Austrian was a matter of choice: pianist Peter Madsen. This Austrian supergroup is also a place where Helbock’s stellar international guests shine brightly: Maria João, Fred Wesley, Dhafer Youssef, Alex Acuña and Lakecia Benjamin.

Nina Simone’s story from the late sixties to the nineties can be told through her legendary performances in Montreux. Taking to the Montreux stage for the first time on 16 June 1968 for the festival’s second edition, Simone built a lasting relationship with Montreux Jazz Festival and its Creator and Director Claude Nobs and this unique trust and electricity can be clearly felt on the recordings.

The expansive playlist of The Lansdowne Tapes gathers early recordings from British prog metal mavens Uriah Heep in various forms from their beginnings in the late '60s and early '70s. Included in the collection's massive 33 tracks are tunes from an early iteration of the band (going under the name Spice) that never quite made it to album release as well as alternate versions of tunes that became Uriah Heep staples, such as "Look at Yourself" and "Real Turned On."

Crowd Pleaser, the stunning debut album from Texas-raised, Nashville-based songwriter Joelton Mayfield, is the result of nearly a decade of work and reflection. Written and recorded in the wake of personal heartbreak and years of questioning faith, the album captures Mayfield's journey from small-town Texas church music director to an emerging voice in indie rock and alt-country. Tracked over three weeks in a converted barn near Alabama's Mobile Bay, Crowd Pleaser brings together a patchwork of trusted friends and collaborators, with songs that lean into the raw edges of disappointment, doubt, and self-discovery.

Secret Story is among the more provocative recordings in Pat Metheny's oeuvre. Combining the relaxed groove of the early Pat Metheny Group recordings, it is full of odd sounds, exotic instrumentation, and the participation of members of the London Orchestra conducted by Jeremy Lubbock. Along with regular group members – bassist Steve Rodby, drummer Paul Wertico, percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, pianist-keyboardist Lyle Mays – numerous guests adorn these tracks as well: bassists Charlie Haden and Will Lee, percussionist Armando Marcal, vocalist Mark Ledford, jazz harmonica legend Toots Thielmans, Gil Goldstein, and Pat's brother Mike Metheny. But what's most notable is that none of these players are constants, as this is most certainly a Metheny solo effort: Secret Story is his own song, so to speak. His acoustic and electric guitars are augmented by synthesizers and samplers, and no matter how lush these proceedings get, they are never overwhelmed by production.

The Later Years is a box set by British rock band Pink Floyd released on 13 December 2019 by Pink Floyd Records. It follows the boxset The Early Years 1965–1972 (2016), and concentrates on Pink Floyd's work under the leadership of David Gilmour after the departure of founding member Roger Waters. The boxset includes the albums A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987), The Division Bell (1994), and The Endless River (2014). It also includes a remixed version of A Momentary Lapse of Reason, with restored contributions by keyboardist Richard Wright and new contributions by drummer Nick Mason, to "restore the creative balance between the three Pink Floyd members". Also included is an expanded version of the 1988 live album Delicate Sound of Thunder with additional tracks; a live recording of Pink Floyd's headline performance at the Knebworth 1990 charity concert; a previously unreleased concert film from Pink Floyd's performance in Venice; 5.1 surround sound mixes; and memorabilia.

The Boston Early Music Festival's newest recording explores the magnificent vocal cantatas of Roman composer Marco Marazzoli. Musical Directors Paul O'Dette & Stephen Stubbs lead an all-star roster of singers and instrumentalists in Marazzoli's extravagant musical entertainments. These miniature dramas present a kaleidoscopic variety of arias, duets, trios, and quartets culminating in glorious choruses for six voices.

Bringing together all of the hits as well as previously unreleased demos and edits it covers the entire history of the band from their emergence as futuristic outriders of a new post-punk sound, through the phenomenon of Dare and '80s chart dominance, their incredible '90s renaissance and ascendance to their current position as one of the most glorious and glamorous live acts in the country. Of the hit singles on CDs One and Two, seven appear as previously unreleased DJ edits, while Disc Three is comprised entirely of 17 exclusive and previously unreleased mixes. What one feels about this 27-song CD will depend entirely upon one's tolerance for soft rock and bubblegum pop. Pickettywitch were huge in England for about two years, and remain one of the more fondly remembered pop/rock groups of their period, mostly by virtue of singer Polly Browne, who has maintained a fandom for 30 years. The sound is soft rock in a modified group context, similar to the kind of music generated by the Partridge Family, the Cowsills, and, on a two-dimensional level, the Archies in America, slick and smooth, catchy and unthreatening; their version of Paul Simon's "Sound of Silence" is something akin to what the New Seekers' rendition might've been like, while "Days I Remember," which came close to charting in America, is akin to the Carpenters trying their hand at blue-eyed soul. It's all rather pretty, for all of its relative wimpiness, and difficult to dislike on that basis – "Solomon Grundy," the B-side that launched their public success, is one of those tunes that was meant for radio airplay two or three times daily, and the title track, a top-five U.K. hit, is a breezy piece of romantic soft rock.

On Fire: Live from the Blue Morocco is a never-before-released recording of jazz trumpet icon Freddie Hubbard captured live at the Blue Morocco jazz club in The Bronx, NY in 1967 featuring Bennie Maupin, Kenny Barron, Herbie Lewis and Freddie Waits. Transferred from the original tape reels that were recorded by legendary engineer Bernard Drayton, the album download and 2-CD set includes an elaborate 32-page booklet includes liner notes by producer John Koenig; plus interviews/statements with Kenny Barron and Bennie Maupin, plus other artists who knew or were inspired by Freddie Hubbard such as Eddie Henderson, Charles Tolliver, Jeremy Pelt, Steven Bernstein and more.

Based on the minimalist trio formation of acoustic piano (Minoru Mukaiya), electric bass (Tetsuo Sakurai), and drums (Akira Jimbo), the album features eight tracks with strings members from LA, and can be considered a new stage for the Katsushika Trio, offering an "organic" musical world. In addition to five new songs including "LUCA," which was released earlier, the album includes rearranged versions of three songs: "Red Express," "Majestic," and "Milky Way. Recorded and mixed by Grammy Award-winning master Don Murray, the album is a condensed version of the best of his playing, including the atmosphere and realism of the Los Angeles recording sessions. This is a truly "organic" album that captures the music in its natural state, without doing anything special. Mastering was done by master musician Bernie Grundman, and the result is an album that is as sophisticated as a top-quality tailored suit, and can be called the trio's greatest work ever.
