The album 'Revolutions' from VOCES8 co-founder Paul Smith centres around an emotionally charged trio of choral works inspired by the past but with an important message of hope for the world around us today. The journey towards this album began with the release of 'Reflections' in 2019 and 'Renewal?' in 2022. Both albums received critical acclaim, with BBC Music Magazine saying: 'A superbly devised programme… A disc for the present time, immaculately sung'. 5 Stars ***** In this third instalment of the trilogy, Smith shares six new choral compositions and combines them with improvisations from a unique combination of instrumental forces. The result is captivating and sonically spellbinding.

Duets is a compilation album by Linda Ronstadt. It was released on the Rhino Records label in April 2014, a few days before Ronstadt's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The album peaked at number 32 on the Billboard album chart - Ronstadt's highest charting album in 24 years. The songs on the album were all previously released with the exception of "Pretty Bird", a duet with bluegrass singer Laurie Lewis. In his review for AllMusic critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine states that "generally, this Duets emphasizes the sweeter, softer, and slower side of Ronstadt, a move that makes for pleasant listening".

Superproducer Daniel Lanois took a rare turn on center stage as a performer on his second solo release, For the Beauty of Wynona. Released in 1993, the album follows his earlier release, Acadie. Unlike that album, which had some superstar appearances, For the Beauty of Wynona is a more low-key affair and has a more subtle impact. Lanois has a limited range as a vocalist, but he possesses a warmth that draws in the listener. Producing himself, Lanois also is an accomplished guitarist, although his protégé, Malcolm Burn, also adds some guitar as well as keyboards. The music is often moody and watercolored, but there are some more upbeat moments like the jaunty melody of "Sleeping in the Devil's Bed," which has a country feel, and the single "Lotta Love to Give," which is wispy but anchored by twang guitar and has a catchy chorus and serrated guitar solo. For the Beauty of Wynona is not an immediately striking album but rather one that slowly grows on the listener. It also proves that Lanois has something to say on his own.

The B-52's is the debut album by the Athens, Georgia-based new wave band the B-52's. Also released in Germany as "Play Loud". The kitschy lyrics and mood, and the hook-laden harmonies helped establish a fanbase for the band, who went on to release several chart-topping singles. The B-52's peaked at number 59 on the Billboard 200, and "Rock Lobster" reached number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2003, the television network VH1 named The B-52's the 99th greatest album of all time. Shortly before his death, John Lennon said he enjoyed the album. In his 1995 book, The Alternative Music Almanac, Alan Cross placed the album ninth on the list of 10 Classic Alternative Albums. In 2012, the album was ranked number 152 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The B-52's was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Sweden - a country largely politicised during the late sixties - took it's first steps towards creating it's own music and its own cultural language during the late sixties with bands like Hansson & Karlsson, Mecki Mark Men, Lea Riders Group and others. Out of the latter (featuring Bosse Häggström on Bass and Tommy "Slim" Borgudd on drums), Made in Sweden evolved together with Georg "Jojje" Wadenius as a instrumentally talented trio. Recording three studio albums (plus the music for a children's play called "Rengbågslandet" in 1970) and this live album, was definitely enough to showcase their collected talents, until they broke up in 1970, shortly after their brilliant album "Made in England" was released. In 1975, Made in Sweden reformed but with a different line-up only featuring Jojje as an original member. This formation released one album, and then dismantled…

Whitesnake were lumped into the "hair metal" explosion of the 1980s, but they were a classier, more classic rock band than most of their peers. So the songs that populate this hits collection hold up better than the work of many of that era's MTV-boosted groups. Vocalist David Coverdale took flack for sounding like Robert Plant, but his booming, confident voice is more temperate than the Zep frontman's caterwaul. From roaring epics such as "Still of the Night" and "Here I Go Again" to the blatant, sexy "Slide It In" to the memorable power ballad "Love Ain't No Stranger," the expected hits from the band's commercial heyday are included in this comprehensive CD, which skips over Whitesnake's several hitless discs of the '70s. Three decent unreleased songs fill out this 14-cut collection, which, much like the band itself, is solid and timeless.

Songs for the Deaf is the third studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released on August 27, 2002 by Interscope Records. It features Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters on drums, alongside other guest musicians, and was the last Queens album to feature bassist Nick Oliveri. Songs for the Deaf is a loose concept album, taking the listener on a drive through the California desert from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree, tuning into radio stations from towns along the way such as Banning and Chino Hills. Songs for the Deaf received critical acclaim, and earned the band their first gold certification in the United States. One million copies were sold in Europe, earning a platinum certification from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in 2008. Three singles were released from the album: "No One Knows", "Go with the Flow", and "First It Giveth".

Marc-Antoine Charpentier, with his Messe à quatre choeurs, delivers a unique work that reflects a rare encounter between French tradition and the splendor of Roman Baroque. Inspired by the grand polychoral works of Gabrieli and Benevoli—whom he listened to attentively during his stay in Italy—he unfolds a choral dialogue of exceptional breadth. Four vocal and instrumental ensembles face each other, respond, and intertwine in a play of echoes and timbres that transcends the liturgical space. Jean-Baptiste Nicolas brings an exalted momentum to this masterpiece of sacred music, combining stylistic precision with interpretative finesse.

Reissue with the latest 24-bit remastering. Features original cover artwork. Comes with a descripton in Japanese. Ronnie Foster cut plenty of sweet fusion sides for Columbia Records at the start of the 80s – but this set's from the second half of the decade, and was initially an album that was only issued for the Japanese market! Foster arranged the whole record himself, and works with a nice lean lineup that includes Phil Upchurch on guitar, Harvey Mason and Ndugu on drums, and Paulinho Da Costa on additional percussion – all in a groove that's kind of a mid 80s update of Foster's earlier mode, still delivered with just the right sense of space and soul! Titles include "Ipanema Walk", "Festival Do Brasil", "Squirt", "Night Life", "Europe", and "The Racer".
