The trio featured in this project pays tribute to some of the great composers/interpreters of South American culture and what it has done for the universe by weaving the thin thread that binds the past to the present. In other words, Paolo Fresu wrote some texts in Sardinian on the music of Linx. Linx adapted some English texts for Pablo Milanés and Famke Sinninghe Damsté as well as writing some texts in Dutch for Milton Nascimento. Beytelmann composed from the world of Piazzolla and embellished Linx's and Fresu's poetry with his touch. Trama Latina is in short, a tribute to the energy that swings between continents and cultures.

Morph is a vibrant and highly inventive contemporary jazz collaboration featuring trumpeter Paolo Fresu, accordionist Antonello Salis, and bassist Furio Di Castri. Mythscapes is a richly textured and highly imaginative contemporary jazz album that brings together bassist Furio Di Castri, trumpeter Paolo Fresu, pianist Jon Balke, and drummer Pierre Favre in a deeply interactive quartet setting. The music explores a wide sonic and emotional range, blending lyrical improvisation with abstract structures and subtle rhythmic interplay. Tutta Vita started with an idea and a look by Valentina Cenni: narrate jazz improvisation as an act of life, a space for interaction, listening, and freedom. She asked Stefano Bollani to gather some of the best Italian jazz musicians, along with three young talents, in a remote location, away from stages and tours, so they could play together for a week. No songlist, no pressure: their only goal is to make music together before performing at the Politeama Rossetti in Trieste.

The two guitar icons Larry Coryell and Philip Catherine have a long history and a close musical affinity, despite their different influences on this and the other side of the Atlantic. Recorded on January 27, 2017 as part of the "Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic" series, "The Last Call" is the last recording of Larry Coryell, who passed away four weeks later on February 19, 2017. And an echo of a very special relationship between two very great guitarists, full of creative compatibility, enthusiasm and deep mutual understanding.

What began in 2005 as an experiment – just three concerts in Sweden bringing together a triumvirate of leading figures from European jazz – has developed in the past 20 years into one of the most distinctive line-ups now defining the ‘Sound of Europe’. Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French accordionist Richard Galliano and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren tell musical stories through Mare Nostrum, narratives from the northernmost to southernmost points of the continent. The trio combine their influences, which range from folk, classical and popular music, with the freedom of jazz. Over the course of hundreds of concerts and through three acclaimed albums, not only has this all-star project evolved into a highly empathetic working band, the three musicians have also become close friends whose affinity and chemistry can be heard and felt on Mare Nostrum IV.

A prolific, award-winning Italian trumpet and flügelhorn player known for his warm tone and lyrical style. His style is based on the classic Miles Davis sound of the '50s, and the very lineup of his quintet is reminiscent of Davis' group, with excellent tenor Tino Tracanna. They mostly play originals and the music flows fresh and engaging, never a mere imitation.

At the beginning of the '80s, trumpeter Paolo Fresu attended the Siena Summer Jazz Seminars and amazed Enrico Rava with his creativity, talent, and technique. Over the next ten years, he became a major player on the Italian scene, first with his own quintet (which is still going), then branching out in a variety of projects. After finishing his Conservatory studies, he became a teacher at the same Jazz Seminars in Siena; he lives half the year in Paris, from where he coordinates the major Time in Jazz Festival he created in his hometown…

Sardinian-born trumpeter Paolo Fresu and bandoneonist Daniele di Bonaventura from Fermo, Italy, indicated the depth of their musical understanding on 2010’s Mistico Mediterraneo, a collaboration with Corsican singers A Filetta. Left to their own resources they explore a very broad range of material which includes original ballads by both men, improvisations, a Puccini theme from La Boheme, liturgical music, pieces by legendary Chilean songwriter Victor Jara and Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jaime Roos, music of Neapolitan composer Ernesto de Curtis, “O que sera” by Brazil’s Chico Buarque and more.
