Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6 in F Minor, Op. 80 was composed in 1847. For the sessions in New York though, instead of an orchestra or ready-made arrangements accompanying Monro, they chose the songs and did all the arrangements as they went along – head arrangements, as they are known. The band was made up of just five musicians - a pianist, bassist, drummer and two guitarists, who both played a mixture of electric and acoustic guitars.The majority of the recordings made over the week were from relatively new musicals, many running in Broadway theatres at the time of the recording, aside from "Stranger In Paradise," which dated from the early 1950s. Seeing as Monro was there, musical director Dave Cavanaugh took the opportunity to lay down a couple of tracks written by Richard Ahlert for possible single release, which had no Broadway show connections.

Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) - hardly any other composer's name is so closely and almost exclusively associated with a single instrument as this one. Chopin is a synonym for romantic piano music of the highest quality. His piano playing and his work as a teacher were regarded as exceptional because of the expansion and exploitation of the technical and tonal possibilities of the instrument, the sensitivity of the touch, the innovations in the use of the pedals and in fingering. It seems presumptuous to have a string quartet interpret the works of precisely this composer, which are so strongly oriented towards pianistic conditions and possibilities. And yet the Swiss arranger, composer and jazz pianist Dave Scherler has taken this risk. For the Stradivari Quartet he has arranged some of Chopin's most famous works for string quartet. These include such well-known pieces as the "Fantaisie Impromptu", the Nocturne in D flat major, Op. 27/2, as well as numerous waltzes and mazurkas. The result works amazingly well. The rhythmically and harmonically complex music with its exuberant wealth of ideas is convincing and captivates even when played by string instruments. The instruments used certainly contribute to this impression, all string instruments from the manufactory of the famous Antonio Stradivari, including the violin "King George 1710" or the famous cello "Bonamy-Suggia 1717".

Ten-time Grammy® winner and Academy Award® nominee Justin Timberlake is set to return as the executive music producer for DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which will be available March 2020. In this role, Timberlake produced the soundtrack alongside Grammy®- and Academy Award®-winning composer/producer Ludwig Göransson. In its own way, this is a kind of grail; a live recording by the great Fela Kuti captured live mere months after his release from prison in 1986. After serving two years on a trumped-up charge of "currency trafficking," he was reluctantly released by the Nigerian government in April due to considerable pressure by Amnesty International. This show took place at Detroit's historic Fox Theater in November. The recording is the first release of "new" Fela material in nearly 20 years. The three CDs clock in at a bit under two-and-a-half hours – the show could have easily fit on two discs – and an audience recording by Bob Tegan.
