    Eumir Deodato - Os Catedraticos 73 (1973)
    Label: Atração Fonográfica | FLAC (tracks + .cue, log, scans) | 35:52 | 285 MB | 11 tracks
    Genre: Jazz, Funk, Bossa Nova

Eumir Deodato's 1973 masterpiece, Os Catedraticos 73, stands as a spectacular, groove-heavy milestone that bridges the gap between sophisticated Brazilian bossa-groove and high-octane American jazz-funk. Released during the absolute peak of Deodato's international fame—hot on the heels of his massive solo successes in the United States—the album revisits his historic "Os Catedráticos" studio project with an aggressive, electrified 1970s sonic palette. Splitting the recording sessions between Rio de Janeiro and New York City, Deodato masterfully blends an elite American brass section featuring Marvin Stamm and Wayne Andre with an unstoppable Brazilian rhythm foundation powered by Azymuth's legendary drummer Ivan Conti. Throughout the eleven brisk, infectious tracks, Deodato's driving Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes electric piano leads the way over propulsive samba-funk breakbeats, reimagining classic tracks like Arranha Céu (Skyscrapers) and O Jogo. This landmark release remains an essential blueprint for acid jazz and instrumental funk, capturing a visionary arranger seamlessly fusing kinetic dancefloor energy with complex harmonic brilliance.

Made in England. The remix album with no composer…the track with no name. Unlike other remix albums Chinese Whispers is a hermetically sealed cyclical recording remix project, but with no original track to begin with. All the artists participating had no idea who they were remixing. They were working in the dark, samples arriving anonymously. All they were aware of was who was involved, who these audio snippets might be from. Stereolab provided the original unconnected miscellaneous samples (ie not from an existing track) to start the ball rolling, and nine remixes later were given the final samples from the last artist's track (in this case T Power) back, to create their final track.

The man behind some of the most urgent, delirious and seductive house music ever made. As everyone learns, history can be cruel. Back at the dawn of the 1990s, the embryonic French dance scene (sometimes known as "French Touch") was built by a bizarrely sparse tangle of hands: Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, Air, Phillipe Zdar aka Cassius, Bob Sinclair. Yet there’s one producer who’s been pitilessly overlooked. Étienne Bernard Marie de Crécy was a draughtsman whose foundations still prop up the likes of Justice and the Ed Banger label with frictional aplomb. De Crécy has been behind some of the most urgent, delirious and downright seductive house music ever to escape from across the channel. Readers of a certain vintage might, when reading or hearing the name Superdiscount, experience spontaneous pupil dilation. And so they should, at the thought of his lurid, filtered and thematic compositions scattered across this tasty five-disc set, collecting material from de Crécy’s 20 years of work.
